Conceptual Framework of the Study

The study is anchored on the idea of applying queuing concept to shovel-truck optimisation

particularly on the study of Ernest Koenigsberg, who first applied queuing theory to mining

practices. Queuing theory is used here to find the optimum number of trucks that should be used

to minimize the cost per unit volume.

Figure 1 demonstrates the flow of the study. The input box introduces data being gathered

for the analysis of truck-shovel delays. Factors during shovelling, loading and hauling for the

researchers to assess what are the factors being considered in utilizing truck-shovel system. The

process box presents on how the researchers will conduct the study. On the basis of field

observation, the performance evaluation of the shovel-trucks system is being observed. The

output box indicates the expected result from the input box to the process box.

Statement of Purpose and Objectives

The aim of this study is the application of queuing theory for an optimum utilization of

truck-shovel system in Agata Mining Ventures Incorporation in Tubay, Agusan del Norte. To

accomplish the study, the researchers sought to locate answers to the following questions:

1. To determine and identify the estimated queuing time in operation.

2. To minimize the delays in AMVI through computing mining equations in queuing theory.

3. To determine the efficiency of queuing theory in minimizing waiting and idling time of

each equipment in Agata Mining Ventures, Inc.
