The importance of Early Sex Education
Almost all parents feel uncomfortable when they teaching sex to their children. Shame
and uneasy is the feeling of parents when transferring sex education to his son. The parents are
often worried if their children get a sex education too early will be pushed to rush to have
intercourse. Especially parents usually interpret that sex is just about intercourse. However, sex
education is not only about intercourse, but includes the biological understanding of genitals,
physiological and hormonal functions, sexual deviations, sexual violence, etc. It is therefore
necessary to do early sex education for children's growth and development. So, what is the
importance of early sex education?
Early sex education to provide information and introduce to children how to safeguard
and protect the reproductive organs. With sex education teaches the child how to clean his or her
vital organs properly. So that vital organs can be awake. The children can also know the
difference in gender, so it does not cause curiosity that resulted in less moral, such as peep the
opposite sex.
Sex education is performed as preparation for the puberty. During puberty, the children
will experience changes and developments in their bodies. Sex education is conducted as an
effort to provide information on biological and psychological changes as a result of human
growth and development. Where women will experience menstruation and men will experience
wet dreams. With sex education, the child will not be worried and anxious about the physical
changes of his body shape. The physical changes in males include the growing Adam’s apple
mustache and beard. While physical changes in women include the growth of breasts, growing
acne, and growing feathers in certain areas.
Sex education as a form of effort avoids free sex associations. When a child has a high
curiosity, the child will look for information from media that presents pornographic things, such
as VCD, magazine, Internet, or television shows. The child will capture the information obtained
without being able to filter it. The impact of adolescent incomprehension about this sex
education, many negative things happen, such as the high level of sexual intercourse, unwanted
pregnancy, HIV transmission, etc. With sex education they will not seek information from the
surrounding environment that is sometimes misleading. Therefore it is necessary to do early sex
education as an attempt to avoid unwanted things.
Thus, sex education is important to the establishment of a child's character and moral.
With child sex education can safeguard and protect the organ of its production, and the child will
be better prepared for puberty. In addition, early sex education was carried out as a preventive
effort or preventing children from doing all sorts of sex abuse, which in Islam is forbidden.
Because they are not going to look for explanations of the surrounding environment are
sometimes misleading.
