The admission procedure – applicable to all bachelor’s study programmes at the Faculty of Management

1. The admission procedure for bachelor’s study:

Applicants for bachelor’s study will be accepted without entrance examination.

4
FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF PREŠOV IN PREŠOV

In the case of their interest, applicants can take an OPTIONAL SCIO test (for a more detailed information visit www.scio.cz).
Applicants for the first level of study (bachelor’s) who will reach a percentile of over 50 (inclusive) in the optional SCIO Test of
General Academic Prerequisite will be accepted automatically and in preference to other applicants - disregarding the average mark
in school leaving examination, under the condition they submit a valid school leaving examination certificate. Those applicants will be
offered admission without being assessed by the algorithm. However, they have to submit their school leaving examination certificate to be
enrolled.

All the applicants for the first-degree study (bachelor’s study) ranked on a scale from the best results to the number of students set by the
faculty’s capacity will be offered admission.
The ranking order of applicants for the admission to bachelor's study is created solely on the basis of the study results from secondary
schools with the option of including bonuses. The ranking order is created by the algorithm published on faculty website
www.unipo.sk/fakulta-manazmentu. Firstly, the order is created by calculating arithmetic average of the grades from school leaving
examination certificates taking into account a type of a secondary school.

For the admission to bachelor's study, grades from all secondary school leaving examination certificates from all types of secondary
schools will be assessed in the following categories:
- Graduates of grammar schools,
- Graduates of other vocational secondary schools.

Each applicant shall be ranked among candidates for acceptance – even if he or she has not taken the school leaving examination in
mathematics and foreign languages.
The applicant has to submit a valid school leaving examination certificate by the set deadline.

The order of the best applicants for the first-degree study (bachelor’s study) is determined by the following factors:
1) The multiplication of the arithmetic average of grades from a school leaving examination and a coefficient for a type of a secondary
school (a compulsory part)
2) A bonus system decreasing the coefficient (an optional part)
2a) A bonus for the SCIO Test of ‘General Academic Prerequisites’, for more detailed information see the document – Algorithm for
a Bachelor’s Study
2b) school leaving examination grades in the main subjects, that is mathematics, and foreign languages (English, German, French,
Russian, Spanish) that will systematically be taken into consideration.

In case two or more applicants rank equally, better results from a final secondary school year certificate will be used to determine their
place on the list of the candidates offered admission. The Faculty of Management will additionally request this certificate.

8 separate lists of the best applicants will be created for all 3 bachelor’s study programmes:
- A separate list of applicants for the full-time study in the Slovak language for the Management study programme
- A separate list of applicants for the part-time study in the Slovak language for the Management study programme
- A separate list of applicants for the full-time study in the Slovak language for the Tourism, Hotel and Spa Industry study programme
- A separate list of applicants for the part-time study in the Slovak language for the Tourism, Hotel and Spa Industry study
programme
- A separate list of applicants for the full-time study in the Slovak language for the Environmental Management study programme
- A separate list of applicants for the part study in the Slovak language for the Environmental Management study programme
- A separate list of applicants for the full-time study in the English language for the Management study programme
- A separate list of applicants for the part-time study in the English language for the Management study programme

All applicants for study are recommended to follow the faculty website www.unipo.sk/fakulta-manazmentu, where all approved
specifications for the 2019/2020 academic year will be published

Within the study of management, students will study subjects creating their graduate profile – particular study plans are available on the
faculty’ s website www.unipo.sk/fakulta-manazmentu - Study – Accredited Study Programmes.
Students studying Management study programme have to choose one of the four compulsory optional blocks of course units at the
enrolment. These blocks provide students with deeper insight into one of the following areas:
 Trade, marketing and psychology of trading
 Human resources management
 Managerial informatics
 Management of tourism and hotel industry

Bachelor’s study graduates of any of the three study programmes at the Faculty of Management (Management; Tourism, Hotel and Spa
Industry; Environmental Management), may continue their study at the faculty by studying an accredited Master’s Study Programme
Management after meeting all entry requirements. Students enrol for one of the following specialisations – compulsory optional blocks of
subjects:
 Trade, marketing and psychology of trading
 Managerial informatics
 Human resources management
 Management of tourism and hotel industry

or they may continue in accredited Masters’s Study Programme Environmental Management after meeting all entry requirements.
2. The admission procedure for master’s study:

In the case of their interest, applicants can take an OPTIONAL SCIO test (for a more detailed information visit www.scio.cz).
Applicants for the second level of study (master’s study) who will reach a percentile of over 50 (inclusive) in an optional SCIO Test of
“General Academic Prerequisites” will be accepted automatically and in preference to other applicants. This is disregarding the
average of grades in the bachelor’s state examination, the overall study weighted average and results in a differentiating test. However,

5
FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF PREŠOV IN PREŠOV

the requirement for submitting a state examination certificate and a diploma of a completed first-degree study (bachelor’s study) must
be met.
Those applicants will be offered admission without being assessed by the algorithm under the condition they submit a document on a
completion of the first cycle of higher education study.

Ranking order of all applicants for the master’s study at the Faculty of Management is created in the following way:
2. 1. Without taking an entrance examination (and without doing a differentiating test i.e. on the basis of a final numerical value
(consisting of the average of grades from bachelor’s state examination and a weighted average of overall study results at the
Faculty of Management)). This is applicable to those applicants for the masters' study (two-year full-time and three-year part-time)
at the Faculty of Management who are graduates of accredited bachelor’s study programme provided by the Faculty of
Management. The applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of the arithmetic average calculated from grades in their bachelor’s
state exam and a weighted arithmetic average of overall bachelor’s study results - ranking from the best average (this arithmetic
average is called a ‘final numerical value’in the algorithm).
The applicants who are graduates of the bachelor’s study programme at the Faculty of Management may request to do a
differentiating test (defined in section 2.2). They submit a written and duly signed application to the Dean of the faculty by 31
March 2019. If the applicant asks for a differentiating test and does not do it (the applicant is informed about the date in the
invitation letter), it results in ‘failure’. A grade ‘failure’ means that the applicant does not meet the requirements for the admission to
the master’s study.
2.2. On the basis of the average of grades in a bachelor’s state examination, a weighted average of overall bachelor’s study and
the differentiating test on the selected areas of bachelor’s study programme curriculum at the Faculty of Management. If
students have not completed their first-degree (bachelor’s) study in the accredited study programme at the Faculty of Management,
they are obliged to do the following differentiating test:
A differentiating test is a written test on topics selected from core curriculum of the bachelor's study programme
Management/Environmental Management at the Faculty of Management (depending on the study programme applicants are
applying for). Selected topics are published on faculty website (www.unipo.sk/fakulta-manazmentu). The final grade in the
differentiating test, the arithmetic average of grades in applicant’s bachelor’s state examination and a weighted average of overall
study results determine a final numerical value calculated by the algorithm published on the faculty website (www.unipo.sk/fakulta-
manazmentu). This value plays the same role as the final value calculated for the graduates of the study programme at the Faculty of
Management who are ranked according to the average grade in bachelor’s state examination results and a weighted average of
overall study results (as defined in point 2.1without a differentiating test). Applicants who gain their ‘final numerical value’in this
way gain their fair position in the final order of applicants.
Overall ranking of all applicants for the master’s study in the given form of study is created on the basis of defined final numerical values
determined by the algorithm according to the respective points, 2.1 or 2.2.
All applicants for the master’s study ranked on the scale from the best final numerical value (the lowest) to the set number of candidates
in line with the faculty’s capacities setting limits to a maximum number of accepted applicants for master’s study at the Faculty of
Management will be offered admission.
4 separate overall ranking lists of the best applicants will be created according to the previously described algorithm:
– A separate of list of applicants for the full-time study in the Slovak language for the study programme Management
– A separate list of applicants for the part-time study in the Slovak language for the study programme Management
– A separate list of applicants for the full-time study in the Slovak language for the study programme Environmental Management
– A separate list of applicants for the part-time study in the Slovak language for the study programme Environmental Management
3. Admission procedure for doctoral study (PhD):

Applicants for the doctoral study will be accepted after meeting entry requirements defined in the previous text in the section ‘entry
requirements – C- Entry requirements for the third level of study (doctoral study)’ that is on the basis of the entrance exam assessed by the
examination committee.
Applicants who have passed SCIO test (GAP – General Academic Prerequisites) may supply test results that will be taken into
account in overall applicants’s assessment.
Two separate lists of successful applicants for admission will be created - a separate list of applicants for the full-time and part-time study.
More detailed entry requirements and information on admission procedure for doctoral study at the Faculty of Management are published
on the website www.unipo.sk/fakulta-manazmentu - Science and Research –PhD Study.

The admission procedure for the doctoral study (PhD study) in the English language is the same as for other applicants for the
doctoral study.

General information on admission procedure

An applicant for study may submit more application forms. The application form must be completed and submitted with all additional required
documents. The administrative fee for the admission procedure is to be paid by a postal money order, one part of which is to be glued on the
third page of the application form. The application form must be signed by the applicant.
