priyavratottānapādau

manu-putrau mahaujasau

tat-putra-pautra-naptṝṇ ām

anuvṛttaḿ tad-antaram

SYNONYMS

priyavrata-Priyavrata; uttānapādau-Uttānapāda; manu-putrau-sons of Manu; mahā-ojasau-very great,


powerful; tat-their; putra-sons; pautra-grandsons; naptṝṇ ām-grandsons from the daughter; anuvṛttam-
following; tat-antaram-in that Manu's period.

TRANSLATION

Svāyambhuva Manu's two sons, Priyavrata and Uttānapāda, became very powerful kings, and their sons
and grandsons spread all over the three worlds during that period.

TEXT 10

devahūtim adāt tāta

kardamāyātmajāḿ manuḥ

tat-sambandhi śruta-prāyaḿ

bhavatā gadato mama

SYNONYMS

devahūtim-Devahūti; adāt-handed over; tāta-my dear son; kardamāya-unto the great sage Kardama;
ātmajām-daughter; manuḥ -Lord Svāyambhuva Manu; tat-sambandhi-in that connection; śruta-prāyam-
heard almost in full; bhavatā-by you; gadataḥ -spoken; mama-by me.

TRANSLATION

My dear son, Svāyambhuva Manu handed over his very dear daughter Devahūti to Kardama Muni. I
have already spoken to you about them, and you have heard about them almost in full.

TEXT 11

dakṣāya brahma-putrāya

prasūtiḿ bhagavān manuḥ


prāyacchad yat-kṛtaḥ sargas

tri-lokyāḿ vitato mahān

SYNONYMS

dakṣāya-unto Prajāpati Dakṣa; brahma-putrāya-the son of Lord Brahmā; prasūtim-Prasūti; bhagavān-the


great personality; manuḥ -Svāyambhuva Manu; prāyacchat-handed over; yat-kṛtaḥ -done by whom;
sargaḥ -creation; tri-lokyām-in the three worlds; vitataḥ -expanded; mahān-greatly.

TRANSLATION

Svāyambhuva Manu handed over his daughter Prasūti to the son of Brahmā named Dakṣa, who was also
one of the progenitors of the living entities. The descendants of Dakṣa are spread throughout the three
worlds.

TEXT 12

yāḥ kardama-sutāḥ proktā

nava brahmarṣi-patnayaḥ

tāsāḿ prasūti-prasavaḿ

procyamānaḿ nibodha me

SYNONYMS

yāḥ -those who; kardama-sutāḥ -the daughters of Kardama; proktāḥ -were mentioned; nava-nine;
brahma-ṛsị -great sages of spiritual knowledge; patnayaḥ -wives; tāsām-their; prasūti-prasavam-
generations of sons and grandsons; procyamānam-describing; nibodha-try to understand; me-from me.

TRANSLATION

You have already been informed about the nine daughters of Kardama Muni, who were handed over to
nine different sages. I shall now describe the descendants of those nine daughters. Please hear from me.

PURPORT

The Third Canto has already described how Kardama Muni begot nine daughters in Devahūti and how all
the daughters were later handed over to great sages like Marīci, Atri and Vasiṣtḥ a.

TEXT 13

patnī marīces tu kalā

suṣuve kardamātmajā

kaśyapaḿ pūrṇ imānaḿ ca


yayor āpūritaḿ jagat

SYNONYMS

patnī-wife; marīceḥ -of the sage named Marīci; tu-also; kalā-named Kalā; suṣuve-gave birth; kardama-
ātmajā-daughter of Kardama Muni; kaśyapam-of the name Kaśyapa; pūrṇ imānam ca-and of the name
Pūrṇ imā; yayoḥ -by whom; āpūritam-spread all over; jagat-the world.

TRANSLATION

Kardama Muni's daughter Kalā, who was married to Marīci, gave birth to two children, whose names
were Kaśyapa and Pūrṇ imā. Their descendants are spread all over the world.

TEXT 14

pūrṇ imāsūta virajaḿ

viśvagaḿ ca parantapa

devakulyāḿ hareḥ pāda-

śaucād yābhūt sarid divaḥ

SYNONYMS

pūrṇ imā-Pūrṇ imā; asūta-begot; virajam-a son named Viraja; viśvagam ca-and named Viśvaga; param-
tapa-O annihilator of enemies; devakulyām-a daughter named Devakulyā; hareḥ -of the Supreme
Personality of Godhead; pāda-śaucāt-by the water which washed His lotus feet; yā-she; abhūt-became;
sarit divaḥ -the transcendental water within the banks of the Ganges.

TRANSLATION

My dear Vidura, of the two sons, Kaśyapa and Pūrṇ imā, Pūrṇ imā begot three children, namely Viraja,
Viśvaga and Devakulyā. Of these three, Devakulyā was the water which washed the lotus feet of the
Personality of Godhead and which later on transformed into the Ganges of the heavenly planets.

PURPORT

Of the two sons Kaśyapa and Pūrṇ imā, herein Pūrṇ imā's descendants are described. An elaborate
description of these descendants will be given in the Sixth Canto. lt is also understood herein that
Devakulyā is the presiding deity of the River Ganges, which comes down from the heavenly planets to
this planet and is accepted to be sanctified because it touched the lotus feet of the Supreme
Personality of Godhead, Hari.

3. Kala gave birth Kasyapa and Purnima whose 3 childrens are Devakulya, and other 2
4. lt is also understood herein that Devakulyā is the presiding deity of the River Ganges, which
comes down from the heavenly planets to this planet, Just like here on Earth the presiding deity is
mother Ganges.

5. Touching the Lotus feet of Lord Hari means serving the Lotus feet of Lord Hari.
6. Also other instructions from Prabhupada is:-Touching the Lotus feet of Lord Hari mean apply
chandan soaked Tulasi to the Lotus feet
7. Bhagirath forefathers were cursed and he did lot of tapasya to call mother Ganges on Earth to
relieve them from such curse but mother Ganges told someone should hold my force when I will
appear on Earth so Lord Shiva did that on prayers of Bhagirath
8. Mother Ganges also told when sinful people take bath in me then they will get purified but I will get
contaminated so who will purify me then it was resolved that the pure devotees of the Lord can
even purify the Ganges also.

10. A pure devotee has taken the responsibility to take his disciples to Godhead and for this he will
suffer even their karma
11. Therefore a disciple must be very very serious that he must remain pure by chanting always
12. Who is the dear most servant of Krishna? One who preaches the message of Krishna.
13. Therefore we should worship mother Ganges. You go to mother Ganges and take the water from
Ganges and you will become devotee of mother Ganges.
14. As you take water from Ganges and put back into it herself similarly everything belongs to Krishna
Therefore everything that we have with us is provided by Lord so we must offer back those things
back to him and serve and love the supreme Lord .
15. Just by his mercy , Srila Prabhupada, he can purify anyone even just by his darshan but if you want
his full Mercy then daily you must hear him ,which will really purify you and please him.
16. The combination of hearing Krishna Katha and from a pure devotee is best.
17. In which mood We must read?
18. We must be very attentive in hearing Bhagavatam.
19. This siddhant are given in these books so read/hear them very carefully , attentively, constantly ,
thoroughly, and all your spiritual desires will be fulfilled.
20. Sun will not take away your life if you read my books constantly
21. if you read my books thoroughly, all your questions will be answered.
22. You must read my books daily and each and every sloka must be read thoughly.
23. So hearing is most important-aspect of our spiritual doctor and all your problems will be solved
24. When Sravanam is not proper even Health problems comes because the mind will be agitated.
