Job Shadowing Experience

I shadowed a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Doterra Influencer, and Professional

MAMA (she told me to add that in HA). The lady I worked with was Anna Penick, she is our

close family friend who, actually, I nanny for. She is one of my major influencers for my love for

nutrition and natural healing. I chose this job choice to shadow because I have a deep love for

it. I’ve always known that I want to be a personal fitness trainer who helps people while pushing

myself to do so as well; by showing them love for good foods that are healthy, and healing them

with natural remedies that don’t have all the toxins. I needed more information so I can be

educated on the causes and effects of certain things due to health so I knew she would be the

perfect person to have educate me.

I arrived at Anna’s house at 9am and was greeted by her sweet kiddos outside. We all

got into her car and headed off to Augies Coffee in downtown Redlands. Her and her husband

needed to work on business and she showed me that this was part of her once or twice a week

tradition. While they were working I watched the kids for them, taking them down the street and

in stores for about 2 hours. We then had to run errands and shortly after we were back home.

Throughout the day she had been getting many texts and calls from her clients and friends

asking her questions about nutrition, she explained that this was an everyday thing she has to

multitask with a 1 & 3 year old.

When we arrived back to her home I helped clean up and she made us all lunch. After

playing with the kids we went into her office and she discussed with me her way of teaching

nutrition, how she gets clients, what kind of nutrition she teaches, and how I can get to where

she is someday. She explained that she went to LLU for college going in for a nutrition degree
and said she wasted $80,000 from tuition because instead of treating the main cause they were

just teaching to give them medicine and eat foods that were not necessarily healthy; so she took

an online course on college called nutritional therapy association and they taught her all the

good stuff and even how to have her own business.

Overall, this experience was amazing. Not only did I get to learn more about what I love,

but I also got to do it all while managing like a mom. This is very important to me because I want

to be able to work from home when I have kids, so seeing it is 100% possible and so worth it

was really eye-opening. Anna answered all my questions in depth and where I understood them

perfectly. This has definitely impacted my life in a positive way because I am more sure than

ever that this is something i’m going to do and i’m going to start changing my lifestyle habits to

do so.
