To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to recommend my colleague Anjali Abraham for a teaching position at your school, she is an
innovative and collaborative teacher that has impressed me with her passion and enthusiasm for science and the
students in our San Marcos community.

Anjali and I are Chemistry teachers and have been working together as a collaborative team since August of
2017. During this time I have seen Anjali digging into new resources, technology, labs and ideas to create
engaging, relevant and effective curriculum for our classes. It has been a great benefit to me as the Chemistry
Department Lead to work with a young teacher that not only has deep content knowledge but is knowledgeable of
all the new changes that have come to our classrooms including the NGSS standards, ADI (argument-driven
inquiry) labs, 5E lesson planning and ABT (ambitious science teaching) practices. Multiple times a week we sit
down together to review our progress within our instructional unit and discuss ideas for improvement and
overcoming challenges we are facing day to day.

Beyond being a collaborative partner in creating new curriculum Anjali has also demonstrated that she cares
deeply for her students and is effective at building respectful relationships in the classroom. ​She is inherently a
social person with a sensitive and outgoing nature that puts colleagues and students alike at ease. It is clear to
me that her students appreciate her unique perspective and personality which allows her to provide an engaging
and relevant experience for students in her Chemistry class.

Anjali also works hard to develop rigorous and respectful classroom community between students. This is evident
in the designs of her lessons and classroom management style as they focus on the student experience and are
structured to elicit student ideas and discussion rather than teacher-driven instruction and voice.

Anjali is intellectually curious, always asking probing questions and creates a classroom culture that encourages
students to do the same. This spirit of questioning embodies the essence of science. She embraces teaching and
in a way that supports both rigor and enthusiasm in her classroom. Anjali works hard to capture students’ interest
and channel this youthful enthusiasm into a love of science. Her students know they can trust her to have their
best interest at heart and often come to her seeking both academic and personal advice.

I offer my highest recommendation for Anjali. I am both excited and a little sad to see her to take her talents and
enrich a new school community!
