Teacher Training Programme

Primary Trainee End of Term Assessment

Please refer to the ‘Guidance to accompany the Professional Standards for Qualified
Teacher Status and Requirements for Initial Teacher Training’ when completing this
assessment.

To be completed ELECTRONICALLY at the end of Term 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

To whom it may concern, I have completed this by considering where Glenn is now in relation to the whole
year & his progress through the standards as a whole- not just on what has been achieved in one term (as I
feel it makes a huge difference to my grading, and I could potentially be awarding good & outstanding in the
majority of areas if I was to assess purely on what has been achieved in such a short space of time. )

Trainee’s name Glenn Billingham

Good  
Satisfactory       
Inadequate  

Strengths
In the short time the children have been in school, Glenn has established fair, respectful,
trusting & supportive relationships with the children. He is calm and always good
humoured with them. Glenn works well as part of a team. He has valued the opportunities
he has had for observing other teachers this term & has used his observations to make
choices about how he will implement different elements of teaching next term. Glenn
absorbs a lot of information and is demonstrating already that he takes feedback and uses
it to aid his professional development.

Areas for development

Q5- (pastoral care & how it supports attainment) as it hasn’t been applicable for Glenn to
be fully involved in this yet & therefore he hasn’t had the opportunity to show his progress
in this area.
Q7b- Glenn has not had the opportunity to develop routines in his teaching as yet, this will
be happening more frequently next term.

Strengths: please refer to the Standards above

I have highlighted all the pastoral standards above (having referred to the professional
standards on blue paper that had been highlighted by college & Glenn kindly gave to me.)

If I have not understood this, I will of course do it again, but think my highlighting the
standards at the top of this document is sufficiently clear & there is no need for me to
repeat entering my assessments in this separate box.

Trainee’s comment
Keeping in mind the amount of teaching that has been completed during this first term, I
feel the above assessments are a fair reflection and a good grounding to demonstrate
progress as the year goes on. From term 2 onwards, ‘hands on’ time in the classroom will
increase, more routines established and, hopefully, attainment will increase.
Entering into a ‘brand new’ curriculum and culture of thinking has been a huge challenge
with a lot to take on, so I feel a lot has been achieved in this first term even though the
specific assessment levels may not reflect this. –Glenn Billingham, 31/10/2010.

I agree with Glenn, and if there is some way I am able to demonstrate his progress I will happily do so- Karen Draper,
mentor 31/10/2010

ITT Co-ordinator’s comments

It is clear from this report that Glenn has made a strong start to his first two terms in class
three with Mrs.Draper. He is a conscientious student and takes on board advice. Having
seen him in action, it is clear to see that he has a natural rapport with children and takes
his role with them very seriously.
Glenn now needs to take time to focus on future areas for development, ensuring that he
takes every opportunity to make good progress in these aspects.
