Overview
In this practice, you fill out the Network Worksheet with information provided to you by the
instructor and Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Lab Diagram.
Unauthorized reproduction or distribution prohibitedฺ Copyright© 2016, Oracle and/or its affiliatesฺ
Assumptions
This assumes your instructor has assigned a lab to you; in most cases, you will have a lab
partner.
Tasks
1. Fill out the configuration information based on Network Configuration Worksheet and
Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Lab Diagram. The system name, SP/ILOM, and Admin IP
address will differ from the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Lab Diagram. The instructor will b le
clarify which system name and IP address to use for your lab configuration.

Overview
You will verify connections within the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance, and then configure an
interface for use to complete the initial setup.

Assumptions
Make sure that you have your student guide along with system information recorded earlier in
this practice, and established a connection to the Remote Lab Delivery Center (RLDC).
Note: The instructor will demonstrate how to log on and use the RLDC. Please do not change
the passwords on any of the appliances or servers in the RLDC.
Caution: Configure only the first of the two appliances available. The second appliance is
configured later in the clustering practice and should be left at the initial configuration screen.

Overview
In this practice, you set up fibre channel host connectivity, create LUNs, and then define the
LUNs to a Solaris server through fibre channel.
Unauthorized reproduction or distribution prohibitedฺ Copyright© 2016, Oracle and/or its affiliatesฺ
Assumptions
Make sure that you have your student guide and system information recorded earlier in this

3. From the preceding outputs, you can determine both the WWN of the host bus adapter and
the AP-ID (C3/C4 in this example; may be different based on server configuration).
Because the AP-ID is used as the identifier in the device path, it is good practice to use it as
part of the initiator name in the initiator group set up on the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance.
AP-ID Example: c3::21000024ff57c80e
Notes
• The construct of target groups is used within the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance's
interface to allocate LUNs to certain FC ports of target FC HBAs in the Oracle ZFS
Storage Appliance. A target group acts as a pool of target FC ports from which
LUNs are made visible to the outside world.
• Initiator groups in the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance are used as a means to control
host (initiators) access to the LUNs. So an initiator group acts as a pool of initiator
FC ports that can be given access to a LUN in the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance.

Overview
In this practice, you set up iSCSI host connectivity, create LUNs, and then define the LUNs to a
Solaris server through iSCSI.
Unauthorized reproduction or distribution prohibitedฺ Copyright© 2016, Oracle and/or its affiliatesฺ
Assumptions
Make sure you have your student guide and system information recorded earlier in this practice,
and established a connection to the Remote Lab Delivery Center (RLDC).
Note: Do not change the passwords on any of the appliances or servers in the RLDC.
Tasks
1. Configure Solaris iSCSI initiator. All Oracle Solaris iSCSI initiator commands are issued as e
arguments to the iscsiadm command. To check whether the iSCSI service is running, use a b l
the svcs command. s fer

sh The IQN for the host used in this example is:
Ra iqn.1986-03.com.sun:01:7a8101f8ffff.53a75b27
3. From the preceding outputs, you can determine that the iSCSI service is online and the
iSCSI Qualified Name (IQN) of the host. Because the IQN is used as the identifier in the
device path, it is good practice to use it as part of the initiator name in the initiator group set
up on the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance.
Notes
• The construct of target groups is used within the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance's
interface to allocate LUNs to certain iSCSI targets in the Oracle ZFS Storage
Appliance. A target group acts as a pool of target iSCSI IQNs from which LUNs are
made visible to the outside world.
• Initiator groups in the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance are used as a means to control
host (initiators) access to the LUNs. So an initiator group acts as a pool of initiator
iSCSI IQNs that can be given access to a LUN in the Oracle ZFS Storage
Appliance.
5. Click the icon next to Targets. On the Create iSCSI Target screen, set the following
parameters: b le
