HUDL

During my four years of high school I had a very strict routine during the months of

August to November, in the morning I would get up at 5:30am drink a protein shake, get a

one mile run in, and then I would head to school by 7:30am. I would go through my typical

school day and then head to football practice from 3pm to 5pm and after I would head home,

shower, eat and turn on film. The only way to watch film though was through a software

called HUDL, this software allowed our coaches to send us personalized film of our

opponents this upcoming weeks and tendencies that we needed to be aware of. HUDL is

widely known as the only software that coaches across the nation use as film sharing

app,” playing a part in the company's growth to serving over 15,000 paying customers,

including the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Indiana Pacers and Oregon Ducks

football program. The company's online video tools today are used by 85 percent of high

school and college football teams and 50 percent of basketball teams in the U.S”. In 2006,

David Graff, Brian Kaiser and John Wirtz came up with the idea to help prepare coaches and

athletes.

HUDL plays a huge part in the development of student athletes and also helps create

exposure for some of the student’s athletes that could quite possibly lead to them getting a
free education in college. HUDL allows students athletes create their own highlight tapes that

can be sent to college scouts which are then able to offer these students athletes scholarships

to come to their school, “Every athlete gets their own profile page to share highlights, stats,

and scores with recruiters, friends and family.” When it comes to the coaching aspect of it

this is a huge training advantage because you are better able to prepare your team for certain

things that the opposing team may do and not be caught by any kind of surprises. Plus with

the ability to create individualized film you are able to make each one of your student athlete

life easier by giving them certain details and tendencies to watch instead of just hoping they

are able to figure something out, “Hudl now offers the tools to edit and share video, study

associated play diagrams”

The other amazing thing about HUDL is it accessibility. HUDL has a wide platform

of the devices that you are able to connect to and stream film instantly, or if you are in a area

of no service you are at least given the option to download some of the film. With its real

time updates it makes sending the film and leaving notes on said film perfect, “Coaches may

attach comments and send them to a player's smartphone or tablet.”.

So in reality HUDL is a fantastic software that allows not only student athletes help

gain national exposure that can benefit late on in life, but it also allows coaches to help

development game plans and other strategies to help lead their team to victory.
