MDC presents: MALAYAN’S BEST DANCE CREW (MBDC)

RULES AND CRITERIA FOR THE COMPETITION

General Rules:
 None Malayan Dance Company members may join the competition
 NO MDC officers can join in the competition.
 Other members may participate in the competition, however only two (2) MDC members can
join in the same group. For the pair category, NO two MDC members may pair up to participate
in the competition.
 MDC members who will perform in the intermission numbers (if there’s any) are also NOT
allowed to join the competition.

There will be two (2) categories in the competition: Pair and Group Categories

Requirements

REGISTRATION FEE:

Pair: Php200 each pair


Group: Php50 each member of the group

 Upon registration, each member must show their Certificate of Matriculation


(A.Y. 2010-2011 2T) and ID.

Each participating team is required to sell at least ten (10) event tickets

Competition Category
 Only students (currently enrolled) of Malayan Colleges Laguna can join and
there are no exceptions when it comes to degree programs (any program can
participate). The pair/group may comprise of any program.

Pair
 Each pair is composed of any combination (boy-boy, boy-girl, girl-girl).

Group

 The group should compose of minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 members. It


may compose of all boys, all girls or mix..

Routine Length

 The routine must be a total of four minutes (4:00).


 A grace period of plus or minus (+/-) five seconds (:05) is permitted resulting in a
minimum 3:55 and a maximum 4:05.
 Pre-performance display is permissible up to 15seconds allowing the group to
acknowledge the audience and to get into the opening pose.
 Timing of the pre-performance begins when the first group member steps on
stage.
 Timing of the routine begins with the first audible sound and ends with the last
audible sound (this includes a cuing beep, if used).

Music

 Groups may use a performance piece with a minimum of two (2) songs with no maximum limit.
 Groups must submit their final material 2 days prior to the competition.
 Changes in music will not be entertained after said deadline.
 No music will be accepted on the day of the competition.
 Group representatives are not allowed in the control booth during performance.

Competition Performance Area

The F.B. Auditorium Stage will be the only Performance Area to be used.

Attire and Props

 Groups should wear clothing reflecting the character and style of the performance.
 This may include accessories such as hats, caps, gloves, scarves, jewelry and other forms of
theatrical dress. However, bead necklaces, bracelets, or other accessories made of beads are
prohibited.
 Taking off pieces of clothing during the performance is permitted provided it is not offensive or
out of character.
 Each team (Pair/Group) is required to use props; determined by a draw lots (upon registration),
in their routine.
 Body oils, body paints, body and hair glitters are prohibited as is any other substance applied to
the body that may affect the clean dry surface of the stage and the safety of fellow competitors.
 All footwear must have clean, non-scuff soles (street shoes and street boots are not acceptable).
