The teacher checks the students ‘answers with the whole class. The students recognize the
conditionals ‘ structure. (handout 1).

The teacher asks the students what would they do if they were the opposite gender for a day?

The teacher gives the students a handout where they have to match the sentences in order to form
correct conditional sentences. The students work in groups. (ex. 3/138) . The teacher checks the
students ‘answers and asks some of the Ss to write the sentences on the blackboard. (handout 2)

3. ACTIVITY THREE – introducing the new topic: the use of “Wish/If only”- 15

The teacher writes on the blackboard I WISH… and asks students to think about their biggest
wish , then the teacher writes on the blackboard I’M SO SORRY, IF ONLY….and asks the
students to think about something they deeply regret. After listening to some of the answers, the
teacher writes on the blackboard the title of the lesson, Expressing wishes/regret and plays a
PowerPoint presentation with some examples of the use of wish and if only and writes the rules
on the blackboard.

In the second part of the activity the teacher plays a short clip (“Spiderman” trailer) and gives
students a set of handouts( handout 3). They work in pairs and while watching the clip they have
to say if the sentences on their handout are true or false. The teacher checks the answers with the
whole classroom and asks the students to do the second exercise on the handout where they have
to write sentences related to the clip, using the verb WISH. The students work in groups and the
teacher checks the answers with the whole class.
