The theme of the Legion of Mary this year is “Go Preach
 Our Lady of
the Gospel to the Whole Creation”. Emulating Edel
Kibeho on a visit Quinn. We ask every Legionary to develop interest in the
to Uganda theme and to read thoroughly well Chapter 40 in the
Handbook where it was selected. You should as well read
Literature about Venerable Edel Quinn. We would like every
Legionary to enrich himself/herself with the knowledge and
information required of him by the year’s theme.
Officers of the Legion of Mary at various levels, on their
part are required to give brief discussion on the theme in the
meetings they hold. We believe that this method of
communication will help Legionaries to grasp the message
conveyed via the theme.

Pilgrimage to Nairobi
On 12th May, 2019, Legionaries will be commemorating the 75 th death
anniversary of the Ven. Edel Quinn. The Senatus of Uganda has to this effect,
organized a Special Pilgrimage to Nairobi. The dates of the pilgrimage are 9 th
to 13th May 2019. Registration is on- going. For further information, you may
contact Sr. Helen Kisakye, chairperson of the organizing committee on
0782-727321. Please, register and book your ticket when it is still early.

Beatification prayers
The Senatus of Uganda is encouraging every Legionary, Praesidium and
Council to take an active part in praying for the cause of beatifying Edel Quinn,
Alphonsus Lambe and Frank Duff. For proper co-ordination and effective
praying, the Senatus has issued guidelines as here below indicated:
The Months of February to May are dedicated to praying for the beatification of
Ven. Edel Quinn . Prayer intentions pegged to Edel Quinn’s prayer are:
1. that the Legion of Mary grows strongly and Expands widely in
Northern and Eastern Uganda.
2. that Sr. Mildred Nangobi, whose brain operates on a battery and
receives blood transfusion after every 3 days, receives total healing.
The Months of June to November are dedicated to praying for the beatification
of Servant of God Frank Duff. The prayer intentions pegged to Frank Duff’s
prayer are:
1. that Rev. Fr. Expedito Walakira, receives total healing and regains his
voice.
2. that Sr. Anne, our Concilium correspondent gets quick recovery from
the sickness she is suffering from.
The Months of December and January are dedicated to praying for the
beatification of the Servant of God Alphonsus Lambe. The prayer intentions
pegged to Alphonsus Lambe will be communicated in the due course.

National re-union
The Legion of Mary National Re-Union is scheduled for Friday, 6th to
Saturday, 7th December, 2019. The Archdiocese of Tororo will host us for the
Function. Two committees have been set to organize this year’s reunion. We
have the Kampala- based Committee whose chairperson is Br. Aloysius
Kiribaki, 0706297111 and the Tororo Committee chaired by Br. Josue Okoth,
0772413166. The two committees have already commenced the work. We ask
each council to get ready to contribute generously.

Legion of Mary centenary celebrations

In the year 2021, we shall be celebrating 100 years of the existence of the
Legion of Mary worldwide. The Senatus of Uganda has called for ideas on
how best these celebrations can be planned for and organized. Please, don’t be
introverted from sending us your ideas and suggestions.

Study of the handbook

This is a new program the Senatus has announced. A Seven-Man Committee
has been formed to manage the program.
Br. Kant Kaahwa Aloysious 0784-884916 is the team leader.
All Legionaries are invited to take an active part in this program. The study of
the handbook will be held every 3rd Saturday of the month at Nsambya Legion
of Mary’s House beginning at 10.00a.m. The very first meeting will be on
Saturday, 18th May, 2019.
To begin with, we shall have two groups: one in English and the other in
Luganda.

Senatus of Uganda runs a Book-barrow with various literature and items for
Legion of Mary like the handbooks, tesserae, vexilla, table cloths, Frank
Duff Edel Quinn and Alphonsus Lambe literature among others.

Our Lady of Kibeho is on a visit to Uganda

201 Ugandans received the Holy image of our Lady, Mother of the Word from
Kibeho, Rwanda on Saturday, 2nd March 2019. Fr.
Ronny Mubiru, who represented the Archbishop of
Kampala, received Mother Mary on behalf of
Ugandans; and at Ggaba Parish, She was and the
pilgrims received by Msgr. Lawrence Ssemusu, Vicar
General II, of the Archdiocese of Kampala. He was in
the company of Rev. Fr. Charles Lwanga Ssengendo,
the Parish Priest. It was all joy and jubilations both in
Kibeho and at Ggaba. They were indeed great occasions
to witness.
St. Kalori Lwanga, Ggaba parish is her home. Many
Ugandans are already making a pilgrimage there as
individuals, families, Praesidia, Comitia and Regia.
On 28th April 2019, She will be in Bunnamwaya parish. 30th May 2019 will
be our day; she will be at the Legion of Mary’s home in Bunnamwaya-
you’re all invited to take part.
