TESTING GUIDANCE DOCUMENT

ONGC has implemented this IFC E-Control tool to support in implementation of IFC framework and
performing continuous testing assessment of framework throughout the organisation as per the
requirement of New Companies Act and Guidance of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It
is a mandatory requirement and the framework will be verified by Statutory Auditors also.

While performing the testing of controls with the help of this E-tool, please follow these instructions to
maintain the sanctity, compliance and standardization for assessment to perform the assessment within
scheduled timeframe.

Guidance Steps:

1. Testing sample should be obtained as per the frequency of the control. In case of event driven (as
when activity), no. of sample should be obtained as per the total population of transactions within
the testing period. Please refer testing sample chart to see frequency-wise minimum control
testing requirement.

2. Testing details should be captured in excel testing sheet. Same should be shared offline with
approvers for review / inputs before capturing test results in the tool to avoid multiple to-fro of
information in tool.

3. All scanned document (PDF Copy) should be inserted (object insert) against the sample details
captured in excel testing sheet.

4. Excel test sheet (test plan) will be filled control wise (each control separate sheet). Same should
be uploaded in the e-tool while submitting for approval.

5. Test document should be numbered in the following format (test paper reference in excel):

ONGC _ Location _ Process _ Control No. _ TP 1 to N

For example, in case of Mumbai location fixed asset process: ONGC_MUM_FA_C1_TP 1 to 5 (or N
number). In case of IA team, the location will be IA_MUM in place of MUM. Please refer coding
sheet for location and processes.

6. In case of any clarification or support while performing testing and using the e-tool, please
connect with Mr. Sreedhar and Mr. Sudesh in the Internal Audit Team.
