Multimodal Rhetoric

As my Weebly site has been becoming more and more filled, I have been purposely

choosing different styles and themes to coincide with my topic of alcoholism. From the

different colors to the worldly pictures, I purposely have been placing each to help subtly drive

across my point for the fight against alcoholism. It is clearly seen that my pictures all derive

from outdoor activities in a multitude of different areas all around the world. Further, I have

been using blue to insinuate a calming and relaxing vibe that hopefully helps entrust the reader

into my viewpoints. Aesthetically I feel like my website looks clean and inviting, but also shows

the seriousness that comes with drug addiction.

As my website came more and more into fruition, I felt that my home page needed to

really be the main piece of attraction for my readers. In this I’ve included my background,

mission statement, and intro to my topic, which all are accompanied by blue for the sole

purpose of drawing in my audience. Also, I added a video on how alcohol dependent parents

affect the lives of their kids, which is one of my major standpoints against alcoholism. in each of

my pages I have a picture depicting people participating in events outdoors. For example, I have

a page that shows four people riding a kayak down river. There’s also a page where the outline
of a man is shown running up a hill with the sun behind him, which was meant to signify the

long uphill battle against alcohol addiction. The reason why I chose to use these types of images

is because I feel that being outdoors and initiating oneself into the world is a very beneficial

way to help ease the stress of one’s mind. Addiction is a very difficult thing to handle, and I

want my reader to understand that the world is filled with hardships, but you must overcome

them in the face of adversity.

I chose to use a casual and easy flowing style as the base for my website. As you can see,

the tabs are prominently shown and very smooth to move back and forth from. I wanted to pick

a style that was simple for the reader to navigate my website with. The actual written work of

my website is clearly posted below each page with a brief description of what the text will

provide. I wanted this to be as transparent as possible for the simplicity and complete

functionality of my Weebly.
