Holly Wells Workplace Writing Professor East Stroudsburg University 200 Prospect Street East Stroudsburg, PA 18301
Dear Professor Wells:
I am writing this assignment not only because I must, but also
because I want to tell you more about myself. This business letter is the perfect opportunity for me to tell you what type of student I am and what I hope to accomplish by taking this course.
I used to be an English major for my freshman and sophomore
years of college. However, during the middle of my sophomore year, I changed to Criminal Justice because I began to see myself more as a lawyer than a book publisher. I believe that this course will provide me with the skills to successfully write any type of letter, contract, webpage, etc. This kind of skillset is very useful for someone like me, who would be dealing with all kinds of clients, companies, and other law firms.
The assignments I chose to complete were the press release,
Investment Proposal Cover Letter, Responding to Social Media Complaints, Customer Service Communication Package, and Patient Leaflet. These few assignments are probably most like some of the tasks I will have to do as a lawyer. I would write press releases for my company or employer if they were a part of something troubling. Responding to social media complaints about our products to avoid legal troubles. I would write up the customer service Communication package to cover all bases. I would review patient leaflets to have a grasp on what coverage we provide for all patients.
The most challenging task would be building an electric vehicle
charging station. This would be the most difficult because I would need knowledge of a lot more than just the law. I would need to know about zoning laws for the city I'm building it in, I would need to know about the best place for the electrical components to be utilized, and I would need to have a possible location for the station. All these factors are something that would take a lot of time to figure out and design. Plus, having to learn such things would take time.
My goal for this course is to pass with a B or higher. This course is
not needed for my major, but I really wanted to take it. I see this as a necessary skill in my future. I want to be able to say that I can write something my superiors asked me to with confidence.
