La cuenca del r í o Chillón está ubicada entre los paralelos 11° IS" y 12° 02'
de latitud sur y los meridianos 7 6 ° 23" y 77°09' de longitud oeste, e x t e n -
diéndose desde el nivel del mar hasta los 5,000 m.s.n.m. en que se encuen-
tra la divisoria con las cuencas del Atlántico.
Limita por el norte con la cuenca del río Chancay, por el sur con la cuenca
del río Rímac, por el este con las cuencas del río Mantara y Rímacy y por el
oeste con el Océano Pacífico (ver Lámina 1 ) .
Presenta una forma más o menos rectangular, cuya mayor dimensión tiene u n
largo de 100 Km. y un ancho promedio de 90 Km. La pendiente media de
toda la cuenca es del 30%, relativamente alta, si se compara con otras cuen-
cas.
Los límites de estas zonas no son fijos, debido a las variaciones climáticas a -
nuales, asumiéndose, para el caso del presente estudio, que la zona húmeda
es la superficie colectora ubicada aguas arriba de la estación de a f o r o s de
Puente Magdalena ( 5 0 Kms. de la desembocadura y 1,000 m . s . n . m ) , l u g a r
donde se mide la mayor convergencia de a g u a s de l a z o n a colectora y
donde la isoyeta anual se aproxima a los 125 mm, magnitud establecida como
límite entre la zona húmeda y la zona árida.
2.1.1 Morfología . -

En las zonas áridas las rocas pre-cuaternarias forman el marco que soporta y
contiene el material a l u v i a l . En este sector los sedimentos aluviales cuater-
narios cobran singular importancia en espesor y repartición horizontal.
2.1.3 Sedimentolocjía .-
- Granulometría de Arenas . -
Cabe resaltar que si bien estos datos muestran en forma general el estado
de sedimentos en el lecho, las observaciones más recientes en cuanto a dis
tribución horizontal, de éstos, demuestran que las grandes avenidas produ-
cidas en los meses de enero, febrero y marzo de este año ( 1 9 7 2 ) han oca-
sionado un enorme transporte de sedimentos, cuya distrubucion en función
de su granulometría se extienden desde Santa Rosa de Quives, con un a n -
cho variable de 50 á 100 m. hasta el puente Trapiche ( K m . 40carretera a
Canta) y con un ancho hasta de 2 K m . a partir de este punto hasta la d e -
sembocadura .

De la gran cantidad de agua que absorben las plantas por medio de su sistema
radicular, sólo una pequeña cantidad queda retenida en los tejidos de las mis
mas. Casi todo se devuelve a la atmósfera por e l proceso llamado t r a n s p i r a -
c i ó n . Dicho proceso constituye una importante fase del c i c l o hidrológico. -
A l efectuar el balance hídrico de una cuenca es imposible desligar la e v a p o -
ración y transpiración.
* POT otro lado, del mapa de suelo preparado por O N E R N se desprende que e n
las partes más altas predominan los suelos litozólicos andinos de escasa p r o -
fundidad (25 c m ) y que limitan con roca consolidada. También se encuen-
tran rocas permeables en grande como calcáreos, caracterizados por g r a n d e s
fisuras que favorecen una rápida percolación. Estos factores, así como la l o -
calización geográfica, la velocidad de los vientos y la humedad influyen n o -
tablemente sobre la evapotranspiración.

- Por último, una tercera zona, constituida por formaciones rocosas de pen-
dientes excesivas que estriban formando profundas gargantas excentas de
vegetación. La evapotranspiración a partir de estas superficies se consi-
dera como insignificante, debido a su rápido escurrimiento y a las pérdi-
das a través de fracturas existentes.

2 Pozos Tubulares I
Son los más numerosos y representan, con un total de 194 pozos, el 62% del
total general. Este tipo de pozos de agua subterránea se caracteriza por el -
empleo de técnicas más avanzadas, tanto de perforación como de completa -
ción y por alcanzar profundidades mayores dentro del acuffero; sus diámetros
varían entre 12 y 21 pulgadas, siendo los más frecuentes 18" y 2 1 " . Algunas
veces pueden estar precedidos de un antepozo de gran diámetro, con o sin re-
vestimiento.

De este Cuadro se desprende que, los pozos más usuales son los pozos tubula-
res con el 6 1 . 4 % del total de pozos, siendo San Martín de Porres el distrito -
que cuenta con mayor número de pozos.
Los pozos que fueron construidos o que se explotan desde antes de 1960, son
el 3 7 % de los considerados en el censo; pero si analizamos por separado ca -
da tipo, encontramos que el 5 0 % de los pozos a tajo abierto y el 2 9 % de los
pozos tubulares ya estaban construidos antes de ese año.

La Figura 3 - 3 muestra el ritmo con que se han construido los diversos tipos de
pozos, a partir del año 1960 hasta el de 1972, fecha del censo.

Dentro del Cuadro N 0 3-3 sé han incluido también los pozos que se encontra-
ban sin equipo, por constituir un porcentaje elevado. Las bombas accionadas -
por motores se encuentran en su mayor parte instaladas en pozos tubulares. En
cambio la mayoría de los equipos que presentan otra forma de accionamiento -
están instalados en los pozos tajo abierto.
En los pozos tajo abierto se encontró que la mayor parte de los pozos t i e n e n
profundidades que varían desde 0 a 40 m, existiendo tan solo un 2.5% c u y a s
profundidades son mayores de 40 mts., con una profundidad máxima de 80 me-
tros.

En los 194 pozos tubulares censados, las profundidades encontradas varían de los
9 a 190 m . , en el Cuadro N 0 3 - 3 se muestra que el mayor número de pozos se -
encuentran entre los 41 a 80 m (ver Fig. 3 - 5 A ) .
En el total general de pozos se puede apreciar que los 3 primeros grupos que tie
nen una profundidad comprendida entre los 0 y 40 m. representan el 4 7 . 5 % deT
total y los 3 restantes con profundidades de 41 a más de 160 m. tienen el 4 7 . 1 0
(un 5 . 4 % se encuentra sin dato de profundidad).

Los manantiales de las partes altas reflejan rápidamente las influencias de. las
grandes avenidas, pudiendo variar su rendimiento entre 300 y 25 l/s.

N o aparecen en el plano de ubicación, por encontrarse aguas arriba del área estudiada

Los usos principales a que son destinadas las aguas captadas de los manantía -
les son agrícola y doméstico de pequeñas poblaciones rurales.
De los pozos, la mayor parte de ellos, particularmente los tubulares fueron rea
I izados después de 196Q; sus profundidades varían entre lOy 40 m. para los a -
tajo abierto y entre 10 y 200 m., para los tubulares, encontrándose el mayor -
porcentaje fntre 40 y 80 m. Los rendimientos de los pozos fluctúan entre 1 l/s
y 112 l/s, estando estas variaciones en función de las características hidrogeo
lógicas, profundidad, diseno y dirección técnica de las perforaciones y equi pa
miento de los pozos.

- Rasgos Tectónicos . -
Todas las formaciones antes descritas fueron afectadas por movimientos oro-
genéticos, acaecidos al término del cretáceo y durante el período terciario
que las han plegado, fallado y exhondado. Estos procesos están relaciona-
dos al emplazamiento de las rocas ígneas de dimensiones batolíticas y auna
actividad volcánica cuyo resultado dejó las intercalaciones volcánicas ya
descritas en párrafos anteriores.
Están representadas por dioritas y granodioritas que,en contacto con las for-
maciones sedimentarias han producido fenómenos de metamorfismo.

2 Geomorfología . -
Los mejores acuíferos son antiguos cauces del río, donde este material ha
sido lavado, resultando por esta razón más permeable.
La evolución geomorfologica del valle del río Chillón tiene una serie d e
consecuencias para los depósitos cuaternarios y las características de l o s a -
cuíferos, de a l l í que se va a distinguir los siguientes acuíferos :

Estas curvas son las más frecuentes en los distritos de Carabayllo, Comas,

gruesos mezclados, de alta permeabilidad yaciendo sobre un substrato re
sistente.

Así mtimo, muestra una depresión a lo largo del eje medio del valle, que
podría corresponder tí un antiguo cauce del fío Chillón alcanzando valo-
res, para la potencia total acumulada de los sedimentos, de 300 o 400 m.
Hacia los límites laterales del valle la potencia es cercana a los 200 m.
aun en estaciones efectuadas próximas a los afloramientos.

40 á 80 m. gruesos semipermeables
80 á 250 m. mezclado semipermeables
X 250 m. substrato resistente.
En las proximidades de los S.E. 12/ 14, 15, 16, 17, la serie de sedimen
tos muestra desde :
0 á 60 m, gruesos permeables
60' á 100 m. mezclados poco permeables
100 á 200 m. fino poco permeable
a 200 m. substrato resistente
Mientras que en tas adyacencias de los S.E. 3, 22, 23, 20, 5, se pre-
senta desde :

A partir de los valores obtenidos se puede ver que la zona propicia para la
instalación de obras de captación de aguas subterráneas, está comprendida
entre las áreas de 4 0 0 0 .• m2 y 5,000 m2 del Mapa de la Lámina 6 .

En el curso del presente estudio fue posible recuperar los perfiles lítológicos
de algunos pozos perforados en el valle. Estos perfiles preparados por I as
compañías perforadoras no siempre refléjenla real disposición de los sedimen-
tos que conforman el acuífero, debido a que no se ha tenido el cuidado ne-
cesario en el momento del muestreo y/o las personas encargadas de la d e s -
cripción litológica no son las mas indicadas.
Estos materiales se interestratifican con los aportes del río Chillón, cons-
tituidos principalmente por cantos rodados y arenas, en algunos sectores
bien lavados, y arcillas.

1972,56 aprecia una ligera variación en la C E . atribuíble a las d i f e -
rentes épocas (de máximo y mínimo descenso de la napa) en que h a n
sido tomadas.

Se presenta en la parte alta del valle en las Hdas. La Molina, entre las lo
calidades de Pte. Piedra y Leoncio Prado y en la zona central del v a l l e ,
pegada a los afloramientos occidentales.

El reservorío acuffero subterráneo del valle del río Chillón está formado
por las acumulaciones detríticas cuaternarias provenientes de lavas torrencta
les y aportes del río Chillón.
Se encuentra limitado per los afloramientos del substrato que forman los c e -
rros que bordean el valle, compuestos de rocas sedimentarlas, HtifScadas, vol
canicas, ígneas y metamorflcas, de edad comprendida entre el Jurásico y él
Cretáceo Inferior.

Los valores de comparación y los resultados para cada año se dan en el Cuadro

El análisis de este cuadro muestra que si bien las reservas calculadas son posi-
tivas existe una marcada diferencia en cuanto a su magnitud. Esto, n a t u r a l -
mente, está ligado en forma estrecha a la variación del régimen de precipita-
ciones en la zona húmeda, que influye directamente en la naturaleza del escu
rrímiento (descargas de entrada) hacia el v a l l e .

. Llama a REDON, que divide los valores según el pedido entre el má-
ximo posible de clases de valores (54) o entre un número reducido de
clases y busca el mínimo, el máximo y los límites de clases redondea-
das.
. Divide en fracciones verticales de la misma manera que C U Z C O o
KENKO, según la escala escogida (4 posibilidades).
. Dibuja cada fracción, escribiendo la numeración de las coordenadas
con la ayuda de FORM I.
. En las mallas acuíferas, el sub-programa TUPAC interpolaverticalmejí
te y horizonteImente, para calcular el valor del parámetro en el sitio
mismo de cada carácter de la impresora.
. Eso permite a AMARU dibujar cada zona, correspondiente a una clase
de valores, según una simbología de caratteres y de espacios en blan
co.
. Las mallas impermeables están representadas por puntitos ( . . ) y el o -
céano por barras de fracción ( / / ) .
. Al final, una leyenda indica la correspondencia de los símbolos y de
los límites de clases.
. Ejemplo de llamadas: CALL AMARU ( X , XTERN, XMAR, IMAX,
JMAX, I FACT, MAX PA).
X = parámetro a dibujar.
XTERN = valor del parámetro en las mallas impermeables ( permite
detectarlas).
XMAR = valor del parámetro en el océano (permite detectarlo).
I FACT = escala ( I FACT = 1 : mallas cuadradas de 1 .27 cm, escala
la más reducida, correspondiente a la de CUZCO y KEN
KO).

La máxima explotación permisible, sin poner en peligro la napa del río Chi_
llón, es del orden de 1.0 m3/s.
Con la explotación de los caudales previstos hasta 1973 y los requeridos por
INDUPERUseeliminaria la posibilidad de cualquier futura explotación del
valle, sino se exploran acuFFeros más profundos.

Se observa que los costos de uso industrial representan costos elevados como
efecto de la incidencia que tienen algunos pozos sub-explotados como : Tex

- El reservarlo acuffero subterráneo de leí cuenca del río Chillón está for-
mado por las acumulaciones fluvlo-aluvlales detríticas cuaternarias que
rellenan el valle. Lltológlcamente, esto material está constituido por
bloques, cantos rodados, gravas, arenas y arcillas que forman horizontes
de diferente permeabilidad. La selección del material va haciendo más
finos los elementos hacia aguas abajo, donde se identifican mejor estra-
tos no consolidados. Este acuffero se encuentra limitado por los aflora-
mientos del substrato que forman los cerros que marginan el valle y que
están compuestos por rocas prefcuaternarlas, sedimentarias l!tiflcadas,ig
neos y metamórficas. La superficie de esto reservorio, en el plano coste
ro es de aproximadamente 200 Km?. El espesor varía entre 50 y 400 m .7
con un valor promedio de 200 á 250 m. La tectónica influencia la hidro
geología regional ya que sólo fenómenos de este tipo pueden suscitar los
espesores de relleno aluvial encontrados. Prueba de ello se encuentra en
el cambio del curso del río Chillón, poco antes de su desembocadura.

- El costo de bombeo por m^ destinado a uso industrial varía de S/. 0.4 á 5/.
0.6. Sin embargo, estos costos pueden ser optimizados hasta $/. 0.15 por
m^, ya que la muestra extraída incluye pozos con defectos de diseño, ubi
cación, equipamiento y régimen de explotación.
n.0.0 RECOMENDACIONES
Las profundidades de pozos señaladas en efi párrafo anterior deben ser asig-
nadas a por lo menos los 5 primeros pozos que estarían distribuidos de tal for
ma que sus resultados sirvan como elemento de base para la proyección de
los pozos restantes. Estos pozos deberán ser acompañados de piezómetros (1
ó 2 por p o z o ) . Programadas, de esta forma, las obras, permitirán al mismo
tiempo definir la posibilidad de la existencia de nuevos recursos acuíTeros
subterráneos a mayores profundidades. O t r a forma de incrementar las actúa
les recursos disponibles serfa estudiando las probabilidades de recarga a r t i -
f i c i a l de la napa.
