Rhetorical Situation: As of 2017 the amount of people in world who are malnourished is 827

million, that is nearly 1/7 of the world population. According to the United Nations hunger and
malnourishment are a greater health risk than malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis together. The only
way to combat this situation is to provide sustainable food to food deprived countries like The
Central African Republic, Yemen, Madagascar, Haiti and many more.

Freewrite: I know that most of the countries that need sustainable food are in the middle east or
Africa. I also know that the main causes of lack of food is due to droughts, lack of money, size of
population, and often time illness does not allow farmers to work and grow food. From here I
believe I need to focus on a few countries that have the greatest lack of food and do more
research as to what is causing it. According to The Guardian a big part of lack of food in
underdeveloped countries is the lack of good refrigeration technology and reliable power
sources. 40% of food from developed countries go to waste before even making it to the market
because of the lack of good refrigeration. First providing sustainable food to countries through
agriculture proper refrigeration technology must be implemented to avoid the waste of food.

Thesis statement: Worldwide 827 million people suffer from malnourishment and hunger, here
are the reasons why most of these people suffer from this and how it could be potentially solved.
