Assignment Title: Q2 Mid Unit Beowulf

Student Writing Goal: My goal is to get 85% or more on my writing assignments. To not have a lot of grammatical
errors and to stay on topic my entire paper.

Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of this writing assignment was to explain what the Anglo-Saxons value. In Beowulf there were a
lot of examples of loyalty, honor, and bravery. Those values were important to the Anglo-Saxons during their
time period because their civilization was just to fight and needed people that had those values so they can
have that trust with their men.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
I personally think I did well in this writing assignment, I didn’t have that many mistakes. I do think my
conclusion was too short and it needed more to it. My thesis statement gets the job done but it needed to get
juiced up. Other than those two mistakes I did well on having good grammar and having good explanations.
In the future I need to work on my conclusion and my thesis statement.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
I really like my first explanation how loyalty is shown in Beowulf, which is while Beowulf was fighting the
dragon “None of his comrades came to him, helped him, his brave and noble followers; they ran for their
lives...Only one of them remained, stood there, miserable as a good man must... His name was Wiglaf”. I had
good evidence and explanation. I’m going to try my best to always have good evidence and explanations,

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

I choose to revise this writing assignment because my thesis needed to be fixed and my conclusion was short
so I had to extend my conclusion.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
I’m going to do better on my thesis statement and conclusion. I’m going to get help from my teacher and
proof read my writing assignment. If I get better on creating thesis statements and making a good conclusion
I believe that my paper will be good.
To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
I managed to get a 90% on my writing assignment, but I could do better. If I fix my simple mistakes I could
get a higher score. I’m going to use different words for when I end a paragraph. For example I kept using
overall and it just keeps on getting repetitive so I’m going to start using therefore and ultimately so It won’t
be repetitive.
