Objective:

The Objective of the project is to cater to the complex database maintenance needs
of the hotels, felicitating easy and secure data transactions. The database should
house all the data supposed to be stored under well-defined schemas and should
be capable of supporting fringe applications which make use to the data on everyday
basis.
A hotel is a place where there will be numerous operations taking place. It includes
the front office, HR, banquet, finance, inventory, material management, quality
management, security, housekeeping, booking and reservation, security etc. It will
be very difficult to maintain all the different parts of the hotel management system
through the use of pen and paper it will be slow ,inefficient, have high chance of
errors, a lot of data redundancy, can’t be used for inference extraction, etc. At all
these situations, the hotel management system database project can be used which
helps in maintaining all the information just in one stretch securely and efficiently.
**The database chosen for the job is MySqL due to it’s compact nature, ease of
usage, free availability(Open Source) and abundance of expert consultancy services
for help. Language used is MySq**

Problem Statement

ABC hotel is a four star hotel in the metropolitan city of Delhi, like other players in the
game it too wants to embrace technology for giving its customers a better service. It
wants to start by digitization of its database which can be easily queried and updated
as and when required.
The various issues it wants to tackle by using the database are :
 The database should be able to return the room availability status when
queried to do so together with the price of the room and room details
 The database should contain information regarding the customer his personal
information, the hotel amenities and services it has used and charge for the
same
 There should be a proper and secure maintenance of the billing information
of the customers
 The database should contain a list of services offered by the hotel together
with details on them like their price, time during which they can be availed
etc.
 It should contain information about the staff and the customers they are
assigned to if applicable
 It should contain information about the salary of the staff and the payments
made to them
 The database should contain information about the hotel inventory with date
stamp
