Training Title:

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Background:
Policy-level employee, such as administrators, must understand the school’s
accountability when it comes to compliance with data privacy and must be able to
support the integration of data privacy policies into the day to day operation of the
school. Their support and buy-in to the data privacy compliance is necessary to the
success of the program. It is important to ensure that employees and staff in the School
must know at a very practical level— i.e., operational level—what to do and what not do
when they handle personal data and other confidential information on a day-to-day
basis.

The administrators and the designated DPO should receive training on Data
Privacy Compliance including, creating privacy program compliance, drafting of privacy
manual, privacy notice, policies on social media, student media release, internet,
research, employment privacy, conducting privacy impact assessment and amending
the existing contracts to include confidentiality.

The teaching and non-teaching personnel should receive training on the

operational compliance as they handle personal data in their day-to-day operations. As
such they will become more aware of what they should or should not do in different
circumstances when handling personal data.

Overview:
From the lessons and discussion during the workshop, policy makers of the
school will be able to formulate their own privacy compliance program fit to their own
privacy needs. They will be guided on what policies needed to ensure that basic
accountability requirements under the law are complied with. As for the employees they
will understand the importance of knowing the right to information privacy, the
importance of translating the principles of data privacy into their day-to-day work, the
