Commissioning Data for Interworking with the P-GW

Scenarios
Prerequisites
Procedure

Scenarios

After a UGW9811 or a PDN gateway (P-GW) is deployed on the packet switched network (PSN), and after data for
interworking between the UGW9811 and the P-GW has been configured, you need to verify whether the links
between the UGW9811 and the P-GW are normal by commissioning. If the UGW9811 functions as both a serving
gateway (S-GW) and a P-GW, it is not necessary to commission the communication paths between the S-GW and the
P-GW.

NOTE:
The S-GW supports this scenario.

Prerequisites

Conditions

Interworking between the UGW9811 and the P-GW has been complete. For details, see Configuring
Data for Interworking with the P-GW When the UGW9811 Functions as an S-GW.
Related configurations have been completed on the P-GW, and a return route to the UGW9811 has
been configured.

Procedure

1. Run test path to commission data and signaling communication paths between the UGW9811 and the P-
GW.
<UGW>system-view
[UGW]access-view
[UGW-access]test path group 5 1 source 5.5.5.5 destination 10.8.10.1 protocol v2 signal
Info:Test Succeed, at group: 5, instance: 1, IP: 10.8.10.1, Port: 2123.
[UGW-access]test path group 5 1 source 5.5.5.5 destination 10.9.9.1 protocol v1 data
Info:Test Succeed, at group: 5, instance: 1, IP: 10.9.9.1, Port: 2152.
[UGW-access]test path group 5 2 source 5.5.5.6 destination 10.8.10.1 protocol v2 signal
Info:Test Succeed, at group: 5, instance: 2, IP: 10.8.10.1, Port: 2123.
[UGW-access]test path group 5 2 source 5.5.5.6 destination 10.9.9.1 protocol v1 data
Info:Test Succeed, at group: 5, instance: 2, IP: 10.9.9.1, Port: 2152.
If detection success messages are returned, the paths are normal and the commissioning
procedure is complete.
If no response message is returned, go to 2.

2. Run display path-configuration to verify whether the Echo message switch for GTPv2 signaling is
enabled.
<UGW>display path-configuration
Gtp protocol configuration is
-----------------------------
V1 Data Echo = ENABLE
V2 Signal Echo = ENABLE
......
When V2 Signal Echo is set to ENABLE, go to 3.
When V2 Signal Echo is set to DISABLE, enable the Echo message switch for GTPv2
signaling. For details, see Setting GTP Path Management Parameters.

3. Run ping to verify whether the links between the UGW9811 and the P-GW are normal.

NOTE:
Set -a source-ip-address to the IP address of the S5 interface on the UGW9811 when you run this
command. This parameter ensures that the logical link between the two devices is also checked.
Otherwise, only the physical link is checked.
If VPN networking is used, you need to use -vpn-instance to specify a VPN instance name to verify
whether VPN routes are normal.

If the peer network element (NE) returns a response to the ping packet, the links between the
UGW9811 and the P-GW are normal. In this case, go to 5.
If successive ping packets time out, the links are not normal. In this case, go to 4.

4. Verify whether interworking between the UGW9811 and the P-GW is normal.

a. Commission the route from the UGW9811 to the P-GW according to the routing mode in use.
For details, see Commissioning Static Route and Default Route or Commissioning OSPF.
b. Commission networking between the UGW9811 and the P-GW according to the networking
mode in use. For details, see Commissioning the Eth-trunk Networking.
c. Repeat 1 to check data and signaling communication paths between the UGW9811 and the
P-GW.
If detection success messages are returned, the paths are normal and the
commissioning procedure is complete.
If a detection failure message is returned, go to 6.

5. Run display alarm active to verify whether "ALM 2606 Signaling path disconnected", "ALM 2607 Data
path disconnected", or "ALM-2619 PMIP path disconnected" is generated.
[UGW]om-view
[UGW-om-view]display alarm active
If a specified alarm is generated, clear the alarm. For details, see ALM-2606 Signalling path
disconnected, ALM-2607 Data path disconnected or ALM-2619 PMIPv6 path disconnected.
If no alarm is generated, go to 6.

6. Collect information and contact technical support engineers.

a. Create an SGWS5/S8 interface trace task on the local maintenance terminal (LMT). Go to 1
and save the packets.
b. Run the display current-configuration command to view and save the current configuration.
c. Collect and save all the preceding queried information.
d. View and collect the configurations and interface status of the peer devices.
e. Collect and summarize all the information and then contact Huawei technical support
engineers.
