PepsiCo entered India in 1989 and has grown to become the


country’s largest selling food and Beverage Company. One of the
largest multinational investors in the country, PepsiCo has established

MSG. It manufactures Lay’s Potato Chips, Cheetos extruded snacks,

Uncle Chipps and traditional snacks under the Kurkure and Lehar
brands and the recently launched ‘Aliva’ savoury crackers. The
company’s high fibre breakfast cereal, Quaker Oats, and low fat and
roasted snack options enhance the healthful choices available to
consumers. Frito Lay’s core products, Lay’s, Kurkure, Uncle Chipps
and Cheetos are cooked in Rice Bran Oil to significantly reduce
saturated fats and all of its products contain voluntary nutritional
labeling on their packets.

The group has built an expansive beverage and foods business.


To support its operations, PepsiCo has 36 bottling plants in India, of
which 13 are company owned and 23 are franchisee owned. In
addition to this, PepsiCo’s Frito Lay foods division has 3 state-of-the-

Pepsico history

Pepsi –cola was first made in New Bern, North Carolina


in the United State in the early 1890s by pharmacists Caleb bard
ham. On Aug 28, 1998 brad’s drinks was changed to Pepsi cola and
later trademark on 16 June 1903as Pepsi was initially intended to cure
stomach pains, bard man coined the name Pepsi from the condition
dyspepsia(stomach-ache or indigestion). It was made of carbonated
water, sugar, vanilla rare oils and kola nuts. Weather the original
recipe included the enzyme pepsin is distributed.

In 1903 bard man moved the bottling of Pepsi-cola


from his drugstore into a rented warehouse. That’s year brad ham

sold 7968 gallons of syrup. The next year, Pepsi was sold in six-ounce
bottles and sales increased to 19,848 gallons. In 1906 the logo was
changed again.

In 1909, automobile race pioneer Barney old-field


endorsed Pepsi-cola in newspaper ads as “a bully drink… refreshing,
invigorating a fine backer before the race”. In 1975 Pepsi introduced
the Pepsi challenger marketing campaign where PepsiCo setup a blind
testing between Pepsi-cola and rival coca-cola. During this blind taste
the majority of participations picked Pepsi as the better soft drinks.
Pepsi took great advantages of the campaign with television
commercials reporting the test results to the public.

In the mid-1990s, the Pepsi launched the highly successful


Pepsi stuff strategy, its largest marketing’s program ever. In its first
year, Pepsi stuff significantly outperformed coke anticipated Atlanta
Olympic summer with growth 3 times larger than coke and 2 points of
share gained by Pepsi. There have been good times and bad times
