In 2013 PBS created a documentary on the Great Depression showing how life was before the

I chose transcripts of President Roosevelts “fireside chat” because the transcripts show that he was
a committed and an involved president. An example of this was his “fireside chats” that he would
have to the citizens during his terms in office. In these chats, he addressed himself in first person
and the awaiting citizens in second as if he was having a conversation with them. This showed that
he wants to reassure the public that there was no difference in the between the President and his
people. This is a very useful source because all of the transcripts are the president’s exact words
which reassured Americans during the tragic times as well as communicate and entertain them.

This source shows a graph from the beginning of the depression to decades afterward. It shows
the unemployment rate. The graph starts low, then the unemployment rate rises to 12 million

men and women handled the effects of the Great Depression differently and how they came out in
the end. This reflects how entertainment affected children during the Great Depression.

The most important variety of structural unemployment in the I930s was difficult. Specifically, the

I really enjoyed the organization and information available on this site. While it may not provide
primary source-type information, it provided me with a list of entertainments which played a big
role during the Great Depression. This helped me find additional resources for my project.
This website represents all of the popular and successful movies of the 1930. This website also
provided me for the images for the movies. It explains in depth the description of the movies and

I found this article in the Business Source Complete database. I search keywords like
“entertainment” and “economy” and “optimism.” The article spoke on how depressed people have
been in the shaky economy, and how they have lost faith in the government and used entertainment
as a distraction. It shows how fearful and depressed the economy has made Americans. It provides
