Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Administrative Director and the Administrator and in
coordination with the clinical managers, the Assistant Administrator is responsible for
overseeing the current operations of radiation oncology clinic activities within the
Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences at The Johns
Hopkins Hospital and Green Spring Station. Specific duties include oversight of
personnel, workflow, equipment, training, space, etc. Develops goals, policies and
procedures. Mentors managers, oversees and stewards projects to scheduled
completion, reviews expenditures with managers and implements operational
solutions to budgetary issues. Assistant Administrator is responsible for developing the
Hospital Budget and for collaborating on the JHU budget, for managing and analyzing
monthly financial reports pertaining to JHH, and for developing business plans
pertaining to JHH and/or Greenspring Station for the Administrative Director and
Administrator. Oversees departmental compliance with regulatory agency
requirements, including the Joint Commission preparation. Serves as department
liaison between JHH and JHU Compliance groups. Oversees implementation and
optimization of EMR utilization including, but not limited to, Epic and Mosaiq. Assists in
the selection and purchasing of capital equipment and serves as a lead on space
evaluation and allocation. Represents the department on institutional initiatives such as
employee engagement, patient safety, and access. Manages the administrative patient
throughput process through the oversight of the Department's New Patient Referral
Services team and scheduling team.

Education:

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in finance, accounting, and business


administration in order to effectively manage the administrative and clinical activities
in the department, as acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in business,
Health Science Administration or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years administrative/ supervisory experience in health care operations and


finance, preferably in a hospital setting. Ability to analyze financial data for functional
unit and make sound recommendations to Administrator and Functional Unit Director.
Ability to manage diverse groups of people and clinical operations to achieve
departmental objectives. In addition, analytical ability required to assist in
development of objectives, policies and procedures. Highly developed interpersonal
and communication skills are required to effectively communicate on a frequent basis
with departmental and interde¬partmental administrative staff, employees and
physicians to exchange information, resolve problems and coordinate services.

Working Conditions:

Office environment predominantly with some interactions in clinical areas if dictated


by assignments or tasks.
