INTRODUCTION

Stress management is a wide spectrum of techniques and psychotherapies aimed


set controlling a person’s level of stress, especially, chronic stress, usually for
the purpose of improving everyday functioning

Stress produces numerous physical and mental symptoms which vary according
to each individual situational factor .these can include physical health decline as
well as depression the process of stress management is named as one of the keys
to a happy and successful life in modern society

Although life provide numerous demands that can prove difficult to handle,
stress management provides a number of ways to manage anxiety and maintain
overall well being

80% of workers feel stress on the job and nearly half say they need help in
learning how to manage stress.

What is stress?
Stress is the reaction people have to excessive pressures or other types of
demand placed upon them. It arises when they worry that they can’t cope

Stress is the “wear and tear” our minds and bodies experience as we attempt to
cope with our continually changing environment

Definition

Stress has very simple and easy definition which anyone can relate to and
understand

TYPES OF STRESS

There are many types of stress which employs fells during their work so that
company try to manage their stress so this two type of stress is likely feels by
the employees

Physical stress:
trauma (injury, infection, surgery), intense physical labour/over-exertion, environmental
pollution (pesticides, herbicides, toxins, heavy metals, inadequate light, radiation, noise,

electromagnetic fields), illness (viral, bacterial, or fungal agents), fatigue, inadequate
oxygen supply, hypoglycaemia I(low blood sugar), hormonal and/or biochemical
imbalances, dietary stress (nutritional deficiencies, food allergies and sensitivities,
unhealthy eating habits), dehydration, substance abuse, dental challenges, and
musculoskeletal misalignments/imbalances.

Psychological stress:
emotional stress (resentments, fears, frustration, sadness, anger, grief/bereavement),
cognitive stress (information overload, accelerated sense of time, worry, guilt, shame,
jealousy, resistance, attachments, self-criticism, self-loathing, unworkable perfectionism,
anxiety, panic attacks, not feeling like yourself, not feeling like things are real, and a
sense of being out of control/not being in control), and perceptual stress (beliefs, roles,
stories, attitudes, world view).

Psychosocial stress:
relationship/marriage difficulties (partner, siblings, children, family, employer, co-
workers, employer), lack of social support, lack of resources for adequate survival, loss of
employment/investments/savings, loss of loved ones, bankruptcy, home foreclosure, and
isolation.

Emotional:
Feelings of tension, irritability, restlessness, worries, inability to relax, depression.

Behavioural:
Avoidance of tasks; sleep problems; difficulty in completing work assignments;
fidgeting; tremors; strained face; clenching fists; crying; changes in drinking, eating, or
smoking behaviours.

Physiological:
Stiff or tense muscles, grinding teeth, sweating, tension headaches, faint feelings,
choking feeling, difficulty in swallowing, stomach-ache, nausea, vomiting, loosening of
bowels, constipation, frequency and urgency of urination, loss of interest in sex, tiredness,
shakiness or tremors, weight loss or gain, awareness of heart beat.

Social:
Some people in stressful times tend to seek out others to be with. Other people withdraw
under stress. Also, the quality of relationships can change when a person is under stress.

1. Acute stress
It is the most common form of stress among humans worldwide
Acute stress deals with the pressure of the near future or dealing with the
very recent past. This type of stress is often misinterpreted for being a
negative connotation

While this is the case in some circumstances it is also a good thing to
have some acute stress in life running or any other form of exercise is
considered an acute stress

For ex: - riding a rollercoaster is an acute stress but it is actually very


enjoyable

2. Chronic stress
It is unlike acute stress it has a wearing effect on people that can become
a very serious health risk if it continues over a long period of time,
chronic stress is dangerous because it can leads to memory loss , damage
spatial recognition and produce a decreased drive of eating ,the severity
varies from person to person and also gender difference can be an
underlying factor . woman are able to take longer durations of stress than
man without showing the same maladaptive changes ,man can deal with
shorter stress duration better than woman can but once males hit certain
threshold ,the chance of them developing mental issues increases
deistically

Causes of stress in company

Some of the factors that commonly face during the work period which are
as below

1. Long hours of duty

2. Heavy workload

3. Tight deadlines to finish work

4. Changes to duty

5. Job insecurity

6. Lack of authority as comparing their juniors

7. Boring work

8. Over supervision

9. Lack of equipment

10.Poor relationship with their boss and many more

Simple Ways to Reduce Stress in the Workplace

A great manager is one who not only is aware of the problem, but they also find ways fix
it. In order to reduce stress in the workplace and making it more conducive, here are some
ways that can help reduce stress in the workplace.

1. Clear (or clearer!) goals for your team members
It is about time for you as a manager, to set clear goals for your team members. By setting
clearer goals, your team members do not have to think long and hard about what their
initial task was supposed to be. It gets them going and focus on the important task at
hand, instead of doing it their way, which could lead them on the wrong track.

This would also mean valuable time lost and they having to redo it again or you would
have to do it for them. This gives your team members a peace of mind because they know
what they need to focus on and why.

2. Encourage mindfulness in your team


The idea of mindfulness or meditation in the office is becoming more and more common.
We wrote an article a while back on how meditation can make you a better leader. We
encourage you to read this, and share it with your team, no matter what their role.

3. Offer a flexible work environment
Nowadays, everyone is looking for that flexibility at work. Allow your team members
flexibility by not monitoring them often, so long as their work is completed by specific
deadlines. Remember that salary is not everything.

Allow that team member who has children by letting them come into the office early and
leave early to pick their children up. Or allow working from home once a fortnight so
team members can have a change of environment once a while. As a great manager, you
will always need to look for ways to reduce stress in the workplace.

4. Encourage employees to move their bodies


The mind needs that break occasionally. In order to reduce stress in the workplace,
encourage your team members to take time from their day to exercise at the gym, take a
walking lunch or meeting or try a yoga class. The mind and body will have greater focus
and clarity of thought. Physical activity such as yoga and running is also a good way for
staff to learn how to pace themselves at work.

You can also set some quick 5-minute reminders for your team members after every 2
hours of constant staring at the computer. Get them off their chair and on their feet to
stretch their body and rest their eyes by looking out of the window

5. Workplace recognition
Another way to reduce stress in the workplace is by encouraging workplace recognition.
Employees who feel they have a positive personal rapport with their management are
more likely to be engaged, and they would feel appreciated when they or their work gets
noticed.

Great companies know that the employees are the heart of the business. However, a great
manager should recognise the effort of their team members and appreciate what they have
done for the company. So, you can either have a short chat with them or tell them what a
great job they have been doing, or make a small announcement about it during your
weekly meetings in front of their colleagues

6. Organize an event for employee

All the company must do this because with the help of this kind of event
company knows about their employee skills and their innovative ideas so
that employees are feeling free to communicate with other employs so
that the relation with other employee became strong this is also helpful
for reducing stress or convert their stress into the innovative mind set

7. Listen music to reduce stress

Music is the best stress remover so that every company have one specific
room where the company may arrange music and songs for listening it if
an employee listen a music and a healing song do that employees may
feels stress free and s that employee feel energetic and more happy and
calm minded so that they can do work sufficiently

8. Arrange a motivational talk in timely manner

Company also arrange a motivational seminar in a proper time that


Mence Company may arrange motivational talk so that the speaker
motivate the employees and try to remove stress from their mind because

motivation is the key towards success so that company arrange the
motivational talk with employees

9. Meditation and yoga

Meditation is the king of reducing the stress because if a person do a


meditation their mind and whole body is going into the hang on mode
they feels relax so that every company have arrange every morning
meditation and yoga for all the employees so that every employees feels
fresh and also healthy so that they feel less stress in whole day
Not only meditation but also yoga is the stress remover so
that company may gave an morning hour for that two things for
employees working speed and also remove stress from their mind

10. Gave a trip in a timely manner

This point says it all it menace that a company should provide a trip to
their employees a company put a condition that every employees should
complete their target if employee complete this so company will get a
free trip from company o that employees enhance the stress and try to
achieve target so that employee get a free trip to reduce the stress so this
is also a stress remover teachings

There are many more stress remover activities and all are effective like
get out from your chair and take a round ,focus on one task at one time,
get enough sleep , take a deep breath , walk and talk it out , listen music
and dance , take a walk in garden , etc .

Example of good companies who have good stress removal technique

Google

Google is the well known company in all over the world and it is also
one of the world’s biggest companies. Google arrange some best facilities
for their employees so their employee can not getting stressed some of the
activity are discussed below

1. Food is free of cost

Food on the Manu is changed on a daily basic taking care of the


employees nuturion even the cafe and all the sneaks are for free cafe
also serve the organic and healthy food for free and taking care of all
the food verity
If employee has a birthday on a particular day so canteen
provides them a birthday cake to celebrate their birthday. So this is also a
good technique for stress management

2. Getting care for babies

If an employee is a parent and taking tenson for their Childs so Google


is taking care for it Google arrange a kids area where kids of the
employee are having fun

Google also pay RS 500$ for the care for babies food and nutrition so
mummies and daddy not need to worry as Google shows
responsibility of their children

3. Play games or walk with pets

If an employee having stress or having heavy work load and cannot


handle it so Google provide them a gaming zone for taking rest and
enjoy the games like POOL , SNOOKER , TABLE TANICE ,
BOWLING , and many more
Even if employees have any skill so they also do practice in the office
like music and dancing
And is employees have a pet so they take their pet with them and
leave them in pet garden arranged by Google so the pet trainers are
tacking care for it

4. Laundry and car wash

Google is the only company who provide this kind of facility to the
employees Google arrange the laundry wash for wash cloths of
employees so that they cannot take the stress of it also this is not
enough Google also provide car washing machine to employees so
employee get the clean car and healthy drive till home

Google also gave them irony cloths which employee direct ware this
menace employee did not take even stress of cloths also so this is the
only company who do this

5. Gym and yoga

Google also gave importance to the employee’s body and health so


that Google gave gym facility to the employees so employees can
maintain their body in the office they cannot even spend money on
this
Not only gym but yoga facility also given by the Google as per the
Indian employees want some of the employees not used to go to the
gym they are used to do yoga so that Google also provide this facility
also

6. Modified working area

Google gave a freehand to working on their own area or sitting chair


or cabin it menace that Google gave a permission to modify their
working area whatever they want at their area Google also provide
them material and all the needy things to do this kind of things

Because Google think that if employees feel comfortable on their own
sitting cabin so employee are more efficient to do the right work so
Google gave permission to do that

7. Privacy

Google is provide their employee full privacy because Google think


some ones privacy is more important than work so goggle provide the
privacy to the employees it menace they provide private pc or laptop
at home or provide them a private working area so employees feel
stress free

The second company is TATA

Tata is the second company who gave the best facility to their employees
so the employees of their companies is ready to do work in their company

If the company ask their employees to do overtime, employees are agreed


to do that so this is the facilities for Tata Company

1. The gaming day

Tata Company allow their employee for play gamed outdoor of the
primacies like cricket and badminton
Tata Company arrange a particular one day for this games and different
sport activity for the employees and which employee doing excellent
performance so company gave them a special gifts and some special
benefits for the particular employee

2. Motivatiation lectures
Tata company arrange motivation lectures for their employees for
increasing mental powers and mental peace ,Tata company arrange the
best speaker for their employees for reduce their stress and gave them a
stress free environment in the company
With the help of this lecture employees get answers of their questions so
that employees do not have any question in mind for the company

3. Holyday at the month end


Tata Company gave target to their employees for employees and
companies benefits so that employees try their best to achieve it so that at
the end of the month the target is achieved so rest of the day company
gave holyday to their employees for reduce their stress

Suggestion

On the study of my subject on stress management I would like to suggest


that
1. Every company should learnt with Google and do similar things
2. Company should gave 2 week offs to their employees so that they can
relax and feel free to do the work
3. Company should take a survey about the relation with the juniors and
the seniors with each other
4. Company should also arrange some events foe employees fun and
enjoyment
5. And last one company should not gave more burden to employees
This is all about to gave a suggestion to the company

Conclusion

With this report we would conclude that every company have some stress
reducing activities so that employees feel free to ask their problem in companies

3. If employees are stress free so company will definitely get the growth and
if it is not so they can not able to grew
