Welcome

Nestlé is the world's foremost Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company, committed to serving
consumers all over the world. Our focus on responsible nutrition and promoting health and
wellness is a core value, emphasizing responsibility and sustainability. We believe that long-term
success should create value for all stakeholders, an approach which we call Creating Shared
Value. I invite you to join us and to be part of our future.

We have operations in almost every country in the world, and strive to help our employees to
achieve their full potential wherever they are. At Nestlé our commitment to your development
can lead to an exciting career that takes you all over the world, as it did for me.

Our global organisation

As a multinational company – present in more than 80 countries with over 265,000 employees –
Nestlé is able to gain from obvious global benefits. Although we are a Swiss company, our
general management represents nine different countries, and less than 2% of our sales are
generated in Switzerland.

Thinking globally - acting locally

Nestlé also believes strongly in decentralization and has always strived to centralize where we
can.

In spite of globalization, food remains a local business, based on local cultures, tastes and habits.
As the early Nestlé pioneers knew so well, it is absolutely vital today to stay close to consumers
around the world, and to develop relevant, added-value products to meet their specific needs.
Therefore, you'll get a different taste of Nestlé in each of the countries where we sell products.

Corporate Business
Nestlé is committed to the following Business Principles in all countries, taking into account
local legislation, cultural and religious practices:

Nestlé's business objective, and that of management and employees at all levels, is to
manufacture and market the Company’s products in such a way as to create value that can be
sustained over the long term for shareholders, employees, consumers, business partners and the
large number of national economies in which Nestlé operates;

Nestlé does not favour short-term profit at the expense of successful long-term business
development, but recognises the need to generate a healthy profit each year in order to maintain
the support of our shareholders and the financial markets, and to finance investments;
Nestlé recognises that its consumers have a sincere and legitimate interest in the behaviour,
beliefs and actions of the Company behind brands in which they place their trust, and that
without its consumers the Company would not exist;

Nestlé believes that, as a general rule, legislation is the most effective safeguard of responsible
conduct, although in certain areas, additional guidance to staff in the form of voluntary business
principles is beneficial in order to ensure that the highest standards are met throughout the
organisation;

Nestlé is conscious of the fact that the success of a corporation is a reflection of the
professionalism, conduct and the responsible attitude of its management and employees.
Therefore recruitment of the right people and ongoing training and development are crucial;

Nestlé operates in many countries and in many cultures throughout the world. This rich diversity
is an invaluable source for our leadership. No single document can capture every legal obligation
that may be required in each of these countries. Indeed, there may be conflicting legal
requirements. Nestlé continues to maintain its commitment to follow and respect all applicable
local laws in each of its markets. If an interpretation of anything contained in this document is
construed as contrary to local laws, such interpretation should not be followed in that country.

The key factor which drove the early history of the enterprise that would become The
Nestlé Company was Henri Nestlé's search for a healthy, economical alternative to
breastfeeding for mothers who could not feed their infants at the breast.

In the mid-1860s Nestlé, a trained pharmacist, began experimenting with various combinations
of cow's milk, wheat flour and sugar in an attempt to develop an alternative source of infant
nutrition for mothers who were unable to breast feed. His ultimate goal was to help combat the
problem of infant mortality due to malnutrition. He called the new product Farine Lactée Henri
Nestlé.

Nestlé's first customer was a premature infant who could tolerate neither his mother's milk nor
any of the conventional substitutes, and had been given up for lost by local physicians. People
quickly recognized the value of the new product, after Nestlé's new formula saved the child's life
and within a few years, Farine Lactée Nestlé was being marketed in much of Europe.
Henri Nestlé also showed early understanding of the power of branding. He had adopted his own
coat of arms as a trademark; in Swiss German, Nestlé means 'little nest'. One of his agents
suggested that the nest could be exchanged for the white cross of the Swiss flag. His response
was firm: "I regret that I cannot allow you to change my nest for a Swiss cross .... I cannot have a
different trademark in every country; anyone can make use of a cross, but no-one else may use
my coat of arms."

Meanwhile, the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, founded in 1866 by Americans Charles
and George Page, broadened its product line in the mid-1870s to include cheese and infant
formulas. The Nestlé Company, which had been purchased from Henri Nestlé by Jules Monnerat
in 1874, responded by launching a condensed milk product of its own. The two companies
remained fierce competitors until their merger in 1905.

Some other important firsts occurred during those years. In 1875 Vevey resident Daniel Peter
figured out how to combine milk and cocoa powder to create milk chocolate. Peter, a friend and
neighbor of Henri Nestlé, started a company that quickly became the world's leading maker of
chocolate and later merged with Nestlé. In 1882 Swiss miller Julius Maggi created a food
product utilizing legumes that was quick to prepare and easy to digest. His instant pea and bean
soups helped launch Maggi & Company. By the turn of the century, his company was producing
not only powdered soups, but bouillon cubes, and sauces and flavorings.

Marketing & Sales

What the International Marketing & Sales Trainee is

First impression could lead people to think this is simply a 2 year International Marketing & Sales Trainee
programme. But, in reality, it is much more. And its aim is to prepare motivated graduates to take up leadership
positions throughout the company.

How the IMST works

The IMST programme is tailored to the abilities and experience of each candidate. However, in general the
programme begins with a 2-4month orientation at our International Headquarters in Vevey.

This initial phase aims to give you a clear understanding of the role of the Headquarters, and the way it works with
Nestlé local markets. It will also introduce you to the specific product category that will be the basis of your
expatriate assignment. During these first few months you’ll have the opportunity to network with many people who
will be important contacts in your future work.

Once this familiarisation phase is over, you are ready to embark on your expatriate training period abroad. But
regardless of where your first assignment takes place, all IMST participants are being trained for a global expatriate
career.

Once on assignment, the fast-paced IMST programme really gets under way. The intensive in-market programme is
designed to help you to get to know all the various departments that will contribute to your success in Marketing or
Sales.
The training abroad, in general, is structured into three phases:

General Training
Marketing Training
Sales Training
CCSD

Training

As an in-market IMST your aim will be to familiarise yourself with all aspects of the specific local Nestlé operation.
To facilitate this, you will be assigned to the following departments:

Finance & Control: key figures and key performance indicators; value drivers; budgeting process and sales price
calculations.

Supply Chain & Information Systems: sales forecasting and production planning; stock management; transport
services and cost; customer services and inter-market supply.

Production: Raw materials and manufacturing processes; capacity management; cost structure and the Nestlé
Quality System (NQS).

Communications: Brand policy, visual properties and guidelines; market research, consumer insights, and
competitor analysis; consumer services, complaints and recipe service; the media; communication partners.

Legal & Public Affairs: licensing agreements, brand protection and the World Health Organization (WHO) code.

During Marketing Training you will work in close collaboration with an experienced Consumer Marketing Manager
who will help you gain an understanding of the following concepts:

Marketing Strategy: brand positioning and communications; preparing business plans built on the long-term
strategic vision for different brands

Setting Objectives: determining targets, for example, volume, market share, profitability, distribution, and brand
awareness

Production: understanding product profiles, packaging, raw materials, innovation and renovation, and the role of the
Nestlé Product Technology Centres and R&D network

Communications: advertising, consumer promotions, sponsorship, working with our Communication Partners,
preparing briefs.

Environment and Market Analysis: competitors, consumer/shopper research and insights, price point elasticity
analysis and various market studies and methods.

Our Sales Training will give you a total overview of our whole sales operation and cover all the different sales
channels. It includes several months work as a sales representative – to experience how the job functions, how to
interact with trade customers, and how to be an integral part of the sales team. This training phase typically includes
the following:

Sales administration: organization of sales force, incentives and trade spend.

Trade marketing: sales channel strategy and point of sale activities.

Category management: understanding categories and tools.

Key Account Management: familiarization with key accounts and the importance of key customers, wholesalers and
retail chains, and other characteristics of retail/wholesale.

Regional Sales: the practical applications of sales in the division in which you may later be assigned a product.

Alternative Channels: Understanding the characteristics and potential of this sector.

IMST Career Development

Once you have successfully completed the IMST programme, many opportunities are open to you. Like our other
international assigned employees, you’ll be asked to make a long-term commitment to carry out a series of 3 to 5
year assignments abroad, moving from one country to another. Like them, you will have the opportunity to work in
many parts of the world, especially in emerging markets.

Assignments abroad enable you to develop an extensive knowledge of our global business, and a wider range of
management skills. You will develop an in-depth understanding of cultural differences, and an insightful
appreciation of how these differences affect business, social situations and consumer preferences. All of this gives
you a privileged, yet responsible role within our group.

Due to the interactive relationship between the Sales & Marketing functions, your career path will probably take you
from one to the other throughout your professional development.

Typically, you could become a Business Manager, Product Manager, Key Account Manager, or Consumer
Marketing Manager – related to the consumer or to a specific customer channel. Or you may move into the area of
Category Management or Trade Marketing.

Having acquired sufficient experience and demonstrated your capabilities, you would then be expected to take up a
leadership position within the Group, i.e : Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, or Head of a business at national
level, or at our International headquarters in Switzerland.

What the IMST offers you

For a start, a solid base for an exciting long-term career that will take you (and your family) from one place in the
world to another, typically for a period of 3-5 years in each location. It is fair to say that an expatriate career within
Nestlé is more than just a career, it is a lifestyle.

You'll belong to a diverse yet select community of Nestlé expatriates, with constant opportunities to meet, work and
share experiences with multicultural teams on an amazing variety of products and brands.

Specifically, we offer you the following:

• A flexible career structure between marketing and sales activities

• The chance, challenge and responsibility of implementing sales & marketing strategies during your
assignments abroad in various markets
• Continuous training and individual development to ensure that in your new position you adapt, progress
quickly and succeed in a wide range of business areas.
• Exchange of knowledge; involvement in many aspects of the company; plenty of contact with our own
people and trade customers

Is an expatriate career right for you?

Our most successful international employees tend to share certain characteristics.

They are extremely flexible and mobile, and thrive in different working conditions. They generally have an open
mind. They have an affinity for different cultures, and the effect these varied cultures has on them – both
professionally and personally.

Since they move from one country to another every 3-5 years, they are able to adapt quickly and to take on
responsibilities anywhere in the world. This is by no means an easy task, and is why our international expatriates
tend also to have a great deal of social competence, and certainly a passion for what they do.

They have a strong team spirit, are good at communication, and have well-developed analytical and organizational
skills. This is combined with entrepreneurial flair and an original creative mind. If all this sounds like you, and you
are looking for a challenging, exciting and rewarding career that can take you round the world, then an international
career as a IMST expatriate could be just right for you.

If you are fluent in English and two other major languages, have some practical work experience, then take the first
step and apply for our IMST training.

We would like to hear from you.

Nestlé Audit Group
What it is

The Nestlé Audit Group is a world-class Audit Department. It forms part of the Finance &
Control Division at the Nestlé Headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland. In order to maintain its
independence, it reports directly to the Board Audit Committee (composed of members of the
Nestlé S.A. Board of Directors).

As business consultants, their objective is to provide value-adding quality services – by

performing effective audits, and by improving profitability while ensuring effective controls and
analysing the Company’s risks. The overall quality and performance of our internal control has a
direct impact on our management reporting. It crucially impacts on the operational efficiency and
the application of best practices throughout the Group.

The Nestlé Audit Group provides vital assistance to Management. For example, our Nestlé
auditors independently assess our internal control systems, as well as the information used for
decision-making, and compliance with Corporate Standards, Policies and Ethics.

Throughout the company, they check our operational efficiency to ensure that resources are used
in the most efficient way.

If you correspond to this profile, search and apply for "Nestlé Audit Group - Graduate
Programme" through Job Opportunities.

How it works

The Nestlé Audit Group comprises a number of audit teams, all staffed by top graduates. Each
team consists of up to six members. These teams carry out audit assignments throughout the
world – with each assignment lasting about three months. The team-members rotate for each
project.
The audit process at Nestlé is very interactive. It is based on the principle of actively involving
staff at the audited unit. It therefore includes interviews with all levels of staff, so that the audit
team becomes familiar with the systems and processes. It includes risk analysis and
determination of specific audit tests; it involves identifying weaknesses and developing
solutions. All this, of course, has to be done in line with existing corporate instructions, policies,
standards and governance principles.

Our auditors know that Nestlé does not favour short-term profits at the expense of long-term
business development. While short-term accountability is important, we need also to have a
long-term view – and know how to balance these factors. This means combining analytical work
with strategic insight. It’s not just a matter of measuring performance, but of enhancing it and
ensuring Nestlé’s long-term success.

The Nestlé Audit Group is therefore a very important function. Vitally, it acts as an early
warning system for Management.

Typical areas of activity

Our audits cover all operational, administrative and computerized functions (Purchasing, Finance
and Control, Costing, Manufacture, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain, etc.) in all the Nestlé
units (Head Offices, Factories, Sales Offices, Distribution Centres and Research & Development
Centres) worldwide.

Career development

When you join Nestlé as an auditor, you will start as an assistant and then will be promoted to
team leader as soon as your performance reaches the required level. Due to the challenging
nature and complexity of the job, we aim for our auditors to stay in the Audit Group for a period
of about four years.

The experience and knowledge you gain as an auditor at Nestlé is an excellent springboard for
operational positions in many areas such as Finance & Control, Marketing & Sales, Supply
Chain Management etc. These opportunities can be anywhere in the world, depending on your
particular interests and talents. Nestlé’s objective is to have new auditors learning and acquiring
experience as quickly as possible. That’s why we believe in on-the-job training. But the high
standards that we have set ourselves demand high performance, so a number of additional
training courses and seminars are also provided:

Initial training: a few weeks in Vevey to become familiar with our Company culture, corporate
standards and policies.

Technical training: participating in a factory high-performance project for two to three months.

Annual workshop: two weeks at the Nestlé International Training Centre, in Switzerland, for an
update on new developments within Nestlé as well as on the economic environment. This is also
an opportunity to exchange experiences gained in audit during the previous 12 months, and to
meet General Management.

A course to update auditors’ knowledge in costing and IS/IT (SAP)

Additional training is provided on subjects such as Communication, Managing People Skills, and
Project Management.

Is a career as a Nestlé auditor right for you?

Our best auditors have an affinity for other cultures and genuinely enjoy working with people
from different countries and backgrounds. They are extremely flexible and mobile, adapt easily
to different working conditions, and are able to “live out of a suitcase”. They like travel – and
they tend to like good food too!

They enjoy working in a team. They have an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong personality and good
leadership qualities. They are able to negotiate and communicate with tact and diplomacy. They
have proved to be very capable at taking the initiative and meeting deadlines, and have excellent
analytical and organizational skills.

If all this sounds like you, then you could be the right person for us; and our Nestlé Audit Group
may be just what you are looking for.

You need to have an excellent academic/technical background, and be a graduate in Economics,

Business Administration or Engineering.

You must be fluent in English, and have a sound knowledge of two other major languages.

You’ll need to be willing to spend 36 weeks a year on assignment outside your home country.
Some previous international experience is an asset. You should have already accomplished some
Internships or have some professional experience.

If you are interested in a highly challenging and exciting job, and if you are an ambitious
individual and a good team-player, then we are looking forward to hearing from you.
