Asian American LEAD – DC Chapter AALEAD’s mission is to support low-income and underserved Asian Pacific American youth with educational empowerment, identity development, and leadership opportunities through after school, summer, and mentoring programs. 2. Holly Ham Bio: She is the Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs), housed in the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, DC. In this capacity, she is responsible for directing the efforts of the White House Initiative and the Presidential Advisory Commission on AAPIs to advise federal agency leadership on the implementation and coordination of federal programs as they relate to AAPIs across executive departments and agencies. 3. Hanseul Kang Bio: Hanseul Kang is the superintendent of education and has led the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), the District of Columbia’s state education agency, since 2015. Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) - DC SASE is dedicated to the advancement of Asian heritage scientists and engineers in education and employment so that they can achieve their full career potential. In addition to professional development, SASE also encourages members to contribute to the enhancement of the communities in which they live. 5. National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development’s (National CAPACD) mission is to improve the quality of life for low-income Asian American and Pacific Islanders by promoting economic vitality, civic and political participation, and racial equity. The National CAPACD is a coalition of more than 100 community based organizations spanning 21 states and the Pacific Islands. Collectively the coalition improves the lives of over two-million Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) who live in poverty by providing voice, tools, and shared knowledge to drive change. 6. STEM for Her Formerly known as Women in Technology Education Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) non- profit foundation, based in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. area that promotes education to create awareness, excitement, and opportunities among girls and young women to pursue successful STEM-related careers. 7. Asian Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund A non-profit whose goal is to see that all Asian and Pacific Islander Americans have access to higher education and resources that cultivate their academic, personal and professional success regardless of their ethnicity, national origin or financial means. Our mission is to make a difference in the lives of APIA students by providing them with resources that increase their access to higher education which serves as the foundation for their future success and contributions to a more vibrant America. They often provide scholarship opportunities to students majoring in STEM.
