Step by Step: 3
Speed control confirmation (1 / 3)

Connect the speed control wiring (CAN, SG OUT, SG COM).

If you are using an analog control, confirm that the control type jumper is
positioned correctly.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

2
Step by Step: 3
Speed control confirmation (2 / 3)

Check the following parameters are the same as those indicated

in the manuals:
Speed Gov Char
Speed Gov Bias
SpeedGovLowLim
SpeedGovHiLim

On a CAN governed engine,

first use the wider ranges
to determine the correct
regulation (+/- 5%):
Speed Gov Char: POSITIVE
Speed Gov Bias: 5
SpeedGovLowLim: 0
SpeedGovHiLim: 10

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

Step by Step: 3
Speed control confirmation (3 / 3)

Start the generator.

Increase and decrease the Speed Gov Bias parameter slightly to determine
whether the engine speed varies as a consequence.
Check that when the parameter Speed Gov Bias
is set to the value of parameter SpeedGovLowLim,
the engine speed drops by approximately 5%.
Otherwise, change the parameter SpeedGovLowLim.
Check that when the parameter Speed Gov Bias
is set to the value of parameter
SpeedGovHiLim, the engine speed
rises by approximately 5%. Otherwise,
change parameter SpeedGovHiLim.
Make sure you leave parameter Speed Gov Bias
set to the produce exactly 50 or 60 Hz.
Turn the generator off.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

3
Step by Step: 4
Voltage control confirmation (1 / 2)

Connect the voltage control wiring (AVR – AVRi – AVRi/TRANS – Controller) as

indicated in the ComAp and/or AVR installation manuals.

At first, set the IG-AVRi potentiometer configuration as indicated in the ComAp

manual. (If no information is available, set it to minimum).

Make sure the AVRi Bias parameter is 50%

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

Step by Step: 4
Voltage control confirmation (2 / 2)

Start the generator.

Calibrate the generator AVR to produce the desired nominal voltage.

Increase and decrease the AVRi Bias parameter slightly to determine whether the
generator voltage varies as a consequence.

Check that when parameter AVRi Bias is 100%,

the generator voltage increases by approximately 10%.
Otherwise change the IG-AVRi potentiometer range
and start the process again.

Check that when parameter AVRi Bias is 0%,

the generator voltage decreases by approximately 10%.
Otherwise change the IG-AVRi potentiometer range
and start the process again.

At the end of the process, leave AVRi Bias

as close as possible to 50%.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

4
Step by Step: 5
Voltage regulation (1 / 3)

Run the WinScope software and configure it to display the Ph-Ph voltage graph of
the generator.

Start to increase the value of parameter Voltage Gain slightly (in 5% steps for
example) until the Winscope graph shows the voltage begins to destabilize. At this
point, use the last value entered, divide it by 2, and the result is the value to use for
the Voltage Gain parameter.

Next, adjust the parameter AVRi Bias to 80%,

and then to 20%, confirming that the
voltage is still stable for both settings.
Otherwise, correct the Voltage Gain parameter slightly.

Check, you have left parameter AVRi Bias

set at its original value.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

Step by Step: 5
Voltage regulation (2 / 3)

Reconfigure WinScope to display the graphs

for the nominal voltage and Ph-Ph voltage of
the generator.
At first, configure the Voltage Int parameter to
a low value, 5% for example.
Briefly increase and decrease the Nominal
Volts parameter by approximately 10 volts,
and check the transition from the old
nominal voltage to the new one occurs
without any instability, and quickly.
Continue the process, increasing the
parameter Voltage Int slightly to find the fasted
response,
without too much instability. Leave parameter
Voltage Int at this value.
Check, you have left the parameter Nominal
Volts set at its original value.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

5
Step by Step: 5
Voltage regulation (3 / 3)

Momentarily configure the other voltage control loops to be used by the

application:

PF Gain VAr Share Gain

and/or VAr Share Int
PF Int

use the values configured for the loop:

Voltage Gain
Voltage Int

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

Step by Step: 6
Frequency regulation (1 / 3)

Reconfigure WinScope and configure it to display the frequency graph of the

generator.

On InteliCompact-NT, press button GCB.

Gradually increase (in 2.5% steps for example) the value of parameter Freq Gain
until the Winscope graph shows the frequency begins to destabilize. At this point,
use the last value entered, divide it by 2, and the result is the value to use for the
Freq Gain parameter.

Next, slightly increase and decrease

the parameter Speed Gov Bias,
from approximately 52 Hz to 48 Hz, and
check the voltage is stable at both values.
Otherwise, correct the parameter
Freq Gain slightly.

Check, you have left the parameter Speed

Gov Bias set at its original value.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

6
Step by Step: 6
Frequency regulation (2 / 3)

Reconfigure WinScope to display the graphs

for the Nominal Frequency and generator
frequency.
At first, configure the Freq Int parameter to a
low value, 2.5% for example.
Briefly increase and decrease the Nominal
Freq parameter by approximately 1 Hz, and
check the transition from the old
nominal frequency to the new one occurs
without any instability, and quickly.
Continue the process, increasing the parameter
Freq Int slightly to find the fasted response,
without too much instability. Leave parameter
Freq Int at this value.
Check, you have left parameter Nominal
Freq set at its original value.
On InteliCompact, release button GCB.
Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

Step by Step: 6
Frequency regulation (3 / 3)

Momentarily configure the other frequency control loops to be used by the

application:

Load Gain LS (LoadShare) Gain

and/or LS (LoadShare) Int
Load Int

use the values configured for the loop:

Freq Gain
Freq Int

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

7
Step by Step: 7
Angle regulation

There should be voltage at the synchronisation bus, as there is another generator

running with its GCB closed. If this is not the case, you will need mains voltage, with
the MCB closed.
Configure the Angle gain parameter to a low value, 2.5% for example.
On the InteliGen-NT or InteliCompact-NT, display the synchronoscope page and
press the GCB button of the controller.
The indicator of the synchronoscope
should start to move slowly without sudden
variations to the 12 o'clock position. Once there,
it must remain stable.
Release the GCB button, slightly increase the
Angle gain parameter, then press GCB again.
Continue with this procedure until you find the
value that moves the synchronoscope indicator
quickly to 12 o'clock as smoothly as possible.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

Step by Step: 8
Phase sequence confirmation

Keep the GCB button pressed for this test, and the GCB led should be blinking. The
synchronoscope indicator should remain steady at 12 o'clock.

Use a voltmeter to measure the top bars compared to the bottom bars of the GCB,
line by line. The value measured on each line should be as minimal as possible
(e.g. 5 - 20 volts). If this is not the case, a line may be inverted or out of phase.

Release the GCB button. Turn the generator off if you wish.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

8
Step by Step: 9
Controller communication confirmation (1 / 2)

Only for multicontrol installations. Guarantee that all the controls can "detect" each
other.

First, check the CAN line is connected properly.

Customer satisfaction is our mission. We continuously develop the best people to succeed in our mission.

Step by Step: 9
Controller communication confirmation (2 / 2)

Each controller must have a specific address assigned. Use the parameter
ControllerAddr for this.

All the controllers must also be configured for the same communication speed. Use
the parameter CAN Bus Mode for this.

You can check that each control “detects” the others on the Power Management
page of the controller display, where binary numbers should be displayed as
follows:
CAN16 1000000000000000
CAN32 0000000000000000

0 indicates no controller is detected, 1 indicates a controller detected.

In the above example, there is only one

controller, and it has the address 1.

The following example shows 2 controllers,

with addresses 2 and 5 assigned.
CAN16 0100100000000000
CAN32 0000000000000000

9
Step by Step: 10
Synchronisation and reactive load control

Configure the following parameters:

Voltage Window: 3%
Phase window: 5°
Dwell Time: 1 second

Start the generator.

(First, there must be voltage at
the synchronisation bus, or mains voltage).

Press the GCB button to start

synchronisation, and when synchronised,
close the breaker.

When the GCB is closed, fine adjust

the relevant control loops and other
parameters.
