In the article “Using Sound in Teaching Reading in Early Childhood Education,”


Yusuf and Enesi discuss how childhood education is a crucial time in teaching literacy.
This stage in life can effect positively or negatively impact their future and success.
Therefore, teaching children how to read and write is extremely important because their
literacy levels with impact everything they do. The authors of this article point out that
the best way to teach literacy using phonics. Phonics includes more spoken language,
playing and singing. In this way, children will be taught that literacy is fun. If children
have this mindset, they will be more successful, especially since literacy is central in
everything humans do.

In Aldemir’s dissertation, the idea that experiences, beliefs, and knowledge affect
how pre-service teachers approach their students, the parents, and their teaching is
studied. Special focus was given to how these beliefs were formed. Beliefs and where
they come from are crucial because they can affect teacher’s decision-making and
classroom pedagogy. Pre-service teachers also have the opportunity to grow and
factor in new information as they learn how to teach. In the end, researchers found
that a relationship between the factors did in fact exist. They also found that
memories and experiences from their own childhood education experience impacted
the pre-service teachers’ beliefs regarding their students, parents, and pedagogies.
