• Name: “Pre-teachers’ Beliefs About Young Children, Their Parents, and Teaching
Early Childhood Education”
• Author: Jale Aldemir
• Year: 2007
In Aldemir’s dissertation, the idea that experiences, beliefs, and knowledge affect
how pre-service teachers approach their students, the parents, and their teaching is
studied. Special focus was given to how these beliefs were formed. Beliefs and where
they come from are crucial because they can affect teacher’s decision-making and
classroom pedagogy. Pre-service teachers also have the opportunity to grow and
factor in new information as they learn how to teach. In the end, researchers found
that a relationship between the factors did in fact exist. They also found that
memories and experiences from their own childhood education experience impacted
the pre-service teachers’ beliefs regarding their students, parents, and pedagogies.
