Is poverty the mother of all crimes?

This question makes our brain storm with different ideas

and we suddenly go into thinking what’s the right answer. Yes, poverty is the mother of all crimes. To
explain it lets focus on some crucial questions.

What causes us humans to turn evil? Is it instinct of humans or is it the circumstances?

When we see around us and things going on in our county all we hear about is how the crime rate is
increasing. Before I start making my points I would just like to clarify that we will only consider the
people who are mentally well. We blame them for the crimes they did and don’t take into consider the
causes of it.

One of the biggest reasons why people start to commit crimes is their living conditions. They
don’t have enough money to feed themselves and their families. They suffer from starvation and
diseases and the only feasible solution for this is money. The level of stress on one without money
causes them to do acts which they would’ve committed if they had money. Mental illness and diseases
are most common in populations struggling in poverty. Also, the wealth of the world is concentrated in a
small percentage of the population which causes the class difference between poor and wealth. This
gives a chance to the poor to steal and increase the crime.

Remember life is hardest for the impoverished people. They face the most discrimination, they
have the most pressure from the society. They don’t get respect which they deserve, they are made to
feel inferior than others. They are constantly getting biased disadvantages. Although they work the most
they end up making the least money.

A person who works hard day and night to earn money for his family can also end up
committing a crime. If his wife gets sick and there is no way he can pay for her treatment then obviously
the guy will steal, rob just to save his wife. Money is his need not his want.

Some adults get so stressed out and depressed due to poverty that they end up doing drugs.
They get a temporary relief from drugs which they think is the solution to their problems. Getting into
drugs usually cause them to lose their senses and they end up doing something which they wouldn’t
have done. The drugs they usually do are smuggled and are illegal themselves. Drugs cause people to
commit a crime and crime causes people to get into drugs, so it goes both ways.

An individual would not really commit a suicide for his own incentives. Usually individuals
commit suicide to fulfill the needs of their dependents; children, wife, parents. Family is always the
priority for a man, one can do to any extent to make sure his family is safe and get their basic needs. A
father will steal, rob to feed his kids anytime. A person working hard day and night to earn money for his
family can end up committing a crime too. For example, his wife gets sick and there is no way he can pay
for her treatment then obviously the guy will steal, rob just to save his wife. Money is his need not his
want.
An average person who is poor tries to look for a job, most of the times they don’t find a job
and even when they do their wages are low and working conditions are harsh. Some people go out and
start begging, that’s their solution to poverty. Both these solutions are not efficient in the sense that
they don’t give you much money in return. A man working for 12 hours a day in a restaurant, cleaning
tables, cannot really fulfill his family needs. He must take care of his kids, wife, old parents who are
depending on him. In this pressure the person looks for easier ways to get money. Living in today’s
world we all know how easy it is to earn money by following the evil ways of crime. This black world
looks so appealing but, is a gate to disaster. But due to the harsh conditions the person just looks at the
positive incentive of it which is the money. Then the person starts by stealing money and pickpocketing.
He accomplishes in the beginning and finds it very satisfying that he didn’t had to work and listen to all
the trash from the world to earn money which he did in 5 minutes. He starts to get addicted to this new
method and without knowing falls in this dark world of crime. Now he starts getting enough money to
feed his family, but he still feels like he could earn money and he starts to look for other ways. Now from
stealing he moves to rob people. This is how poverty cause one to slowly fall in the hands of crime. The
person might become very rich through this way, but he would still not leave it because now it’s his
addiction.

Children born in poverty are most vulnerable to the world of crime. They open their eyes in the
scariest side of life. They see hardships since the day they are born and don’t know what’s right or
wrong, since that’s all they have seen. Impoverished kids usually get affected their surroundings. Lack of
education and literacy causes them to usually end up spending more time on streets and in gangs
instead of schools. Gangs are often made by kids who are in their teens and instead of working and
studying, they are spending time doing other stuff. They are on the streets trying to anything which
comes in their way. They go fight, rob, steal and invade. Often young teens like this end up in drug
activities too. They are young and looking forward to trying new things. So, they end up getting involved
in drugs, and drugs usually end up making them commit crimes. Some people face abuse in their
childhood due to poverty in the family. So, they grow up to become ruthless and feel like they have a
right to commit crime.

They are usually trained from a small age to do all these things. They are trained to go scam
people, pickpocket and other ways to earn money. They aren’t mature enough to make their own
decisions, so they just follow what is told to them. The bad and harsh surroundings they face since they
opened their eyes, make them so emotionless that they can kill a person without any problem. Also, kids
from socially well families don’t face the harsh and evil side of the world. They don’t get discriminated
and abused, while child’s who come from poor families end up getting shouted, abused, and arrested by
the police more often.
