4. Chandra Shekhar Rajan to be designated as Managing Director of


IL&FS (Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services).

5. Davis Malpass was recently chosen as the next President of the


World Bank.

6. Vikram Kirloskar was appointed as the president of Confederation


of Indian Industry (CII) for the period 2019-20.

7. Praful Patel, President of All India Football Federation (AIFF) has been
designated as FIFA Executive Council member.

1. The merger of Bank of Baroda, with


Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank came into force
from 1st April 2019.

The merged entity which is called “Bank of


Baroda” now becomes India’s largest
commercial bank after State Bank of India and
HDFC Bank.

2. ADB in its publication Asian Development Outlook 2019 has demoted


growth forecasts for India to 7.2% for the fiscal year 2019-20.

3. Reserve Bank of India has set the limits for Ways and Means
Advances (WMA) to Rs. 75000 crores for the first half of the financial
year 2019-20.

The rate of interest issued on the Ways and Means Advances (WMA) will be
Repo Rate while the overdraft will exceed the Repo Rate by flat 2%.

4. First Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Statement for 2019-20.

Repo Rate: 6%

Reverse Repo Rate: 5.75%

Marginal Standing Facility Rate: 6.25%

Bank Rate: 6.25%

Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR): 4%

Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR): 19.25%

5. Karnataka Bank (Headquarter: Mangalore) has signed a pact with


Bharti Axa Life Insurance Company Ltd to distribute life insurance
products to provide insurance solutions to the customers of Karnataka Bank.

1. Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management


(RNAM) has partnered with Google to
provide voice-based financial transactions
to the customers, thus becoming the first
Indian company to provide the service.

2. Paytm Money, the wealth management arm


of Paytm, has got approval from the Securities
and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to start
offering a stock broking service.

3. Reliance Jio Digital, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries has acquired a


chatbot making start-up firm Haptik for Rs.700 crores.

4. Bombay Stock Exchange and INX (India International Exchange) are


the first Indian exchanges to sign with MOEX (Moscow Exchange) to
allow capital formation platform and connect investor community and
companies in both India and Russia.
5. Under “Category II Alternate Investment Fund” (AIF), SEBI for the first
time has approved an “airport’ specific fund”. The name of the fund is
“Taking Off to the Future Airport Fund”.

It can raise a capital amounting to Rs. 10,000 crores.

2. UAE (Capital: Abu Dhabi, Currency:


Dirham) honoured PM Narendra Modi with its highest civilian award,

nations.

3. Indian Astrologer Dr Sohini Sastri has been honoured with Doctor


of Letters (D. Litt) in Astrology by National American University, USA.

4. Tata Steel bagged the “Global Slag Company of the Year” award
at the 14th Global Slag Conference and Exhibition 2019, for its innovative
practices in the development of new applications for Steel by-products
(Slag).

5. Gyanaditya Shakya has been honoured with the Presidential Award of


Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman 2019.

feat by constructing ‘Maitri’, the 260-feet
longest suspension bridge over the Indus
river in the Leh-Ladakh region in just 40 days.

3. BSNL has received the in-flight connectivity license from the


Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for enabling in-flight and
maritime connectivity (IFMC) within Indian airspace.

4. ‘Chennai Central’ railway station has been renamed as ‘Puratchi Thalaivar

added hump-backed mahseer, also known as
