2. Descripción de la Asignatura:
El objetivo del curso es acercar los estudiantes a las herramientas del método experimental
para desarrollar las capacidades para formular una pregunta causal y elaborar un diseño
capaz de contestarla a partir de datos generados en laboratorio.
4. Metodología
El curso tiene carácter seminarial: requiere una participación constante de los estudiantes,
tanto en término de mantenerse al día con las lecturas, como de reflexión sobre los temas
tratados, tanto participando a experimentos, como desarrollando preguntas y soluciones
alrededor de los problemas prácticos que se plantearán.
En concreto, cada semana se analizará un paper, que puede ser presentado por el profesor
o por uno o más estudiantes. Adicionalmente, casi todas las semanas realizaremos un
experimento en clase o un taller.
5. Evaluación
Quices [20%]: habrá como mínimo cuatro quices, cada uno de diez preguntas a
respuestas múltiples. Las fechas de los quices no están definidas, pueden ser en
cualquier clase del curso y no serán anunciadas con antelación. De las diez
preguntas, un mínimo de tres será relacionada con el paper de la semana;
Presentación en clase de un paper [20%]: puede ser grupal. A partir de la quinta
semana, los estudiantes recibirán asignación de los paper. La presentación es de
máximo 30 minutos y tiene formato estándar;
Referee report de un paper [20%]: el referee report es un documento de análisis
crítico de un artículo de investigación (publicado). El referee report discute
motivación, marco teórico, diseño, resultados y potenciales desarrollo del trabajo
analizado, en un documento de máximo seis páginas. Para la octava semana se
definirá la asignación de los artículos, que pueden ser propuestos por los
estudiantes, a condición de que se trate de trabajos experimentales y publicados;
Prueba parcial [20%]: se trata de 10 preguntas sobre un trabajo precedentemente
asignado;
Diseño [20%]: los estudiantes se tendrán que enfrentar con la siguiente sugerencia
de investigación “¿Cómo logramos la reconciliación?”. Para acercarse al tema
tendrán que leer el paper de Ferguson et al. (2018) “¿Cómo nos reconciliamos? El
papel de la violencia, la participación social y política, y el Estado en las actitudes
frente a la reconciliación” Documento CEDE, disponible entre las lecturas. A través
de los instrumentos desarrollados dentro del curso, deberán proponer como
transformar este tema general en una pregunta de investigación específica y
desarrollar un diseño para abordarla. En la semana 14 deberán entregar un
documento de máximo diez páginas que presente el diseño y justifique cada una de
las elecciones metodológicas.
