installation
 Lumira Web Application:
 BI Platform Web Tier is the pre-requisite for Lumira Web Application
installation
 Lumira Restful Web services:
 BI Platform WACS server is the pre-requisite for Lumira Restful Web Service
installation
 Lumira Scheduling Service:
 BI Platform Adaptive Server is the pre-requisite for Lumira Scheduling
Service installation
#LS4BIP: Sizing Recommendations

 Sizing Lumira – Common Caveats

 Use the BI 4 Sizing best practices in conjunction with the
Lumira Sizing recommendations.
 After all you are just sizing for an additional node in your BI
landscape.

 Merged datasets are more complex to process, and can

require more memory and processing resources

 The refresh and edit workflows are memory-intensive

operations requiring new copies of the data to be loaded
on the In-Memory data engine
#LS4BIP: Sizing Recommendations

 Sizing Lumira – Common Caveats

 By default, LS4BIP allocates 85% of the available memory
of host machines at start up to the In-Memory data engine.

 Sharing Mechanism – Workspace Manager

 When two concurrent users view the same Lumira document,
a single copy of the document is loaded on the In-Memory
data engine.
 However, when the document is refreshed or edited by one of
the users, a new and separate copy of the document is
created and loaded on the data engine.
A Few Tips & Recommendations

 Data Source:
 Make sure the XLS/CSV/TXT source are available in the
shared location to support refresh in BI Launchpad
 FHSQL refresh requires driver configuration on BI Platform
 Desktop
 Universe Query Panel Extension should be installed on
Lumira Desktop for Universe support
 Desktop Governance is supported from BI 4.1 SP05 Patch
5 onwards
 Lumira Desktop and Lumira Server for BI Platform version
must be maintained
A Few More Tips & Recommendations

 Deployment and Installation:

 Deploy Lumira Server on a dedicated system
 The installer doesn’t identify LIMA in the distributed
environment, must un-install LIMA before installing Lumira
Server for BIP
