MARY, MOTHER OF MERCY

 A TRUE DEVOTION TO JESUS, KING OF MERCY CALLS FOR A TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY, MOTHER OF
MERCY

 GOD’S GREATEST GIFT TO MANKIND: DIVINE MERCY AND MARY

 NECESSITY OF DEVOTION TO MARY :

 GOD THE FATHER GAVE HIS ONLY SON TO THE WORLD ONLY THROUGH MARY. Whatever desires
the patriarchs may have cherished, whatever entreaties the prophets and saints of the Old Law
may have made to obtain the treasure, IT WAS MARY ALONE WHO MERITED IT AND FOUND
GRACE BEFORE GOD BY THE POWER OF HER PRAYERS AND THE PERFECTION OF HER VIRTUES.

 According to St. Augustine, “The world being unworthy to receive the Son of God directly from
His hands, He gave His Son to Mary for the world to receive Him from her.”

 The Son of God became MAN for our salvation but only in Mary and through Mary.

 God the Holy Spirit formed Jesus Christ in Mary but only after having asked her consent through
one of the chief ministers of his court, Archangel Gabriel.

 Mary occupies a place of prominence not only in the history of salvation of mankind but also in
the spiritual life of every Christian.

 GOD, in His might and power, could have sent Jesus straight from heaven without passing
through the virginal womb of Mary. He could come into the world in splendor and in the sight of
everybody and everyone would have been stricken in AWE and nobody would have dared to
CRUCIFY HIM, BUT NO, She brought the Son of God Himself into the world to become the
Mother of the Divine Mercy, the Merciful Savior.

 JESUS came into world through Mary, staying the full period in her womb for nine (9) months,
from March 25-December 25, to fulfill God’s plan to save mankind through Mary.

 SO, if GOD, in His infinite wisdom, included Mary in His plan of salvation, then, WHO ARE WE TO
DO WITHOUT MARY?
 HOW HIGHLY then do we glorify God when to please Him we submit ourselves to Mary, taking
Jesus as our model!

 In the remainder of the life of Jesus, He chose to begin His miracles through Mary. (1) IT WAS BY
HER WORD THAT HE SANCTIFIED ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST IN THE WOMB OF HIS MOTHER, ST.
ELIZABETH, no soon, had Mary spoken than John was sanctified. This was His first miracle in the
order of grace. (2). At the wedding in Cana, He changed water into wine at her humble prayer.
This was His first miracle in the order of nature.

 Jesus began and continued His miracles through Mary and He will continue them through her
until the end of time.

 Most widely known/recognized/accepted apparitions/miracles:

 DECEMBER 12, 1531 - TEPEYAC HILL, GUADALAJAR, MEXICO - JUAN DIEGO

 1858 (18 TIMES) - LOURDES, FRANCE - ST. BERNADETTE SOUBIROUS

 MAY-OCTOBER 1917 - FATIMA, PORTUGAL - LUCIA, JACINTA & FRANCISCO

 WHY IS MARY CALLED AS : MOTHER OF MERCY:

 BECAUSE THROUGH HER IMMACULATE CONCEPTION, GOD MADE HER THE CREATED
MASTERPIECE OF HIS MERCY. SHE IS THE ONE WHO EXPERIENCED MERCY IN AN
EXCEPTIONAL WAY.
- SINLESS FROM WOMB TO TOMB - FROM CONCEPTION TO ASSUMPTION

GOD CREATED HER FULL OF GRACE: HAIL MARY, FULL OF GRACE (Archangel Gabriel’s greetings)
BLESSED ARE YOU. . . . . . . . . ( St. Elizabeth’s greetings)

 BECAUSE SHE WAS THE ONE CHOSEN BY GOD TO BE THE MOTHER OF THE MERCIFUL
SAVIOR, SHE BROUGHT DIVINE MERCY HIMSELF TO BIRTH INTO OUR WORLD. BY HER
MATERNAL INTERCESSION AND COMPASSION FOR US, SHE OPENS THE FLOODGATES TO ALL
THE MERCIFUL LOVE THAT GOD WANTS TO POUR OUT UPON THE WORLD.

 BECAUSE SHE SHOWED US THE WAY TO LIVE AS DISCIPLES OF CHRIST, SETTING THE SHINING
EXAMPLES FOR US OF TRUE CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP AND THIS WAS A GREAT WORK OF
MERCY SHE DID FOR ALL OF US. HER EVANGELICAL VIRTUES:
1. BLIND OBEDIENCE - ( during the Annunciation)
2. UNSHAKEABLE FAITH - (never drawing back in times of trials and sufferings)
3. DEEP HUMILITY - ( “Behold the handmaid of the Lord…”)
4. LIVELY FAITH -( Faith in action-alive/Marriage in Cana)
5. CONTINUAL PRAYER/DEVOTION TO HER SON
6. HEAVENLY PURITY/VIRGINAL CHASTITY -( conceived and kept SINLESS until death)
7. HEROIC PATIENCE - (during the quick flight to Egypt-Herod’s threat)
8. HEAVENLY WISDOM/PRUDENCE
9. SUBMISSION TO THE WILL OF THE FATHER (during Christ’s Passion and Death)
10. CHARITY (selfless love) - ( her visitation to St. Elizabeth during the latter’s pregnancy)

 BECAUSE FROM HEAVEN SHE CONTINUES TO COME TO OUR AID BY HER TENDER
INTERCESSJON ( Her apparitions after her life on earth/Assumption and her visits to
Purgatory to bring souls to heaven). She looks after our needs and nurtures the Christ -
life within us, from now until the hour of death.

 SINCE THE DEVOTION TO JESUS as KING OF MERCY CALLS AND DEMANDS US TO A MERCIFUL WAY
OF LIFE, then, THE DEVOTION TO MARY AS MOTHER OF MERCY CALLS us to a WAY OF LIFE, that of
BEING A MARIAN;

 According to Pope Pius VI, “ WE CANNOT BE CHRISTIANS WITHOUT BEING MARIANS”.

People may say that they are Christians, but, we cannot be sure. However, if someone says
that he is a MARIAN, for sure he is a CHRISTIAN. WHY ?????

 TO BE MARIANS, we must DEVOTEES OF THE BLESSED MOTHER, and the devotion is not
simply knowing her as the most beautiful woman in the whole world for all times. It is
rather looking at her as the MODEL OF THE CHURCH, OF EVERYTHING A CHRISTIAN IS
AND SHOULD BECOME. IT INVOLVES MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD and then
PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICE IN OUR DAILY LIVES. HOW ??????????????????????;

 DEVOTION TO THE HOLY ROSARY/PRAYING THE HOLY ROSARY

-------A CROWN OF ROSES ( White for JESUS AND red for Mary)
-------ROSE as the Queen of Flowers with its thorns symbolizing the sorrowful mystery

--------the most powerful spiritual weapon during these times of SPIRITUAL WARFARE :
History of the Holy Rosary (Refer to another/attached sheet)
 Miracles of the Rosary
 -----BATTLE OF LEPANTO (October 7,
 vision of Bishop Doeme of Nigeria in 2014

St. Pope John Paul II’s favorite prayer: introduced the Luminous Mystery in 2002,

TO CONQUER THE EVILS CONFRONTING THE CHURCH AND SOCIETY!!!!!, THE MYSTERIES CALLED AS ::
LIGHT SAVORS”.

 FIRST LUMINOUS MYSTERY: BAPTISM - MANY STILL DON’T WANT TO BE

BAPTIZED

 SECOND : MARRIAGE AT CANA - ON MARRIAGE AND

FAMILY

 THIRD : PROCLAMATION OF GOD’S KINGDOM -

CONVERSION

 FOURTH : TRANSFIGURATION – UNBELIEF IN THE REAL

PRESENCE OF GOD IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

 FIFTH : INSTITUTION OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST

 ACCORDING TO ST. MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA: WE MUST NOT BE SURPRISED WHEN WE HEAR
OF KILLINGS, MURDERS, HATRED, WAR—IF A MOTHER CAN KILL HER OWN CHILD, WHAT IS LEFT
BUT FOR US TO KILL EACH OTHER?
