Admission Guidelines

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

1. Read carefully all the admission guidelines and other information provided in the Admission Prospectus and
supplements (if any) before applying for admission to any programme of the Lovely Professional University.

2. Application Form for admission to open and distance learning programmes is made available in the
Admission Prospectus and on the web portal (www.lpuelearning.in).

3. A candidate shall himself be responsible, to obtain, read and understand the Admission Prospectus with
supplements/amendments (if any) and further to keep himself informed with the latest updates,
clarifications, rectifications, amendments, etc. that the University may provide from time to time, by
referring either to the notice board at the University Campus and/or to the web portal
(www.lpuelearning.in).

4. “Programmes” shall herein mean the information provided in the Admission Prospectus and other related
documents, if any, for the purpose of admission to open and distance learning programme(s) of the
University, that may include nomenclature, eligibility criteria, admission criteria, fee details etc.

5. Any Degree/Diploma obtained from a fake University, Board, Council, Institution, College etc. as notified by
the University Grants Commission (UGC) or any other authority, shall not be considered as a basis for
eligibility criteria for admission to any programme of the University. If a candidate applies/ takes admission
on such basis, his/her candidature will be cancelled as and when it comes to the notice of the University, and
he/she shall not be entitled to any refund of programme fee or any other fee/ payment(s) made to the
University.

6. A candidate, once admitted, as a student of the Lovely Professional University shall abide by all the
provisions of the Lovely Professional University Act, and the Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, Rules,
Orders, Instructions, Information, Guidelines, Manuals, Code, Circulars etc. as made there under in force and
as amended from time to time (hereinafter jointly referred to as “the Provisions”) of and/or framed by the
Lovely Professional University and its Institutes, Faculties, Schools, Departments, Divisions, Centres, other
constituent units, establishments and concerned authorities, officers, assigns and employees (hereinafter
referred to as “the University”).

7. The University shall be at liberty to impose any penalty or any disciplinary action(s) on the student being
found guilty of, any sort of misconduct or indiscipline or disobedience or malpractice within or outside the
precincts of the University, or any act which is detrimental to the interest of the University. The University, in
such case, may discontinue his/her programme and he/she shall not be entitled for any refund of
programme fee and/or any other fee / charges paid to the University and he/she shall also be liable to pay
the pending fee, dues, penalty, etc.

8. The University reserves the right to frame, amend, revoke and repeal the Provisions and to provide and/or
withdraw any facility at any time at its discretion.

9. The University may make mandatory the submission of any certificate(s) or document(s) before or at the
time of admission or afterwards, for the purpose of admission or otherwise, as decided by the University.

10. Original certificates of a candidate normally will not be retained and returned to the candidate after
verification; however in exceptional cases, if required, the University may retain and get it verified from the
Board/Council/University from where the certificates are supposed to be issued; and in case of any default
on the part of the candidate, his admission will be cancelled and the case may be handed to the relevant
authority as per the law of land.

11. Student will have to make their own travel and other arrangements for appearing in the exam, for attending
the contact classes and for all other purposes.
12. Any request for any kind of change in programme and/or specialization will not be entertained.

13. The University reserves the right to make changes in the date, venue and timing for the conduct of contact
classes or exam etc. without any separate intimation to individual students or assigning any reason as deem
necessary.

14. No individual intimation will be given to any student regarding any information. Students are expected to
regularly check web portal(www.lpuelearning.in) and e-learning portal to keep themselves updated.

15. The University reserves the right to amend or rescind any matter provided in the Admission Prospectus and
other related documents at any point of time, as deem necessary without notice or assigning any reason. For
any clarification/dispute, the decision of the Registrar of the University shall be final and binding on all
concerned.

16. Anything which has not been expressly provided and for the interpretation of any clause of the Admission
Prospectus and any other document and for any matter related to the admissions or otherwise, the decision
of the Registrar of the University shall be final and binding on all concerned.

17. It shall be the responsibility of the candidate to sign and submit all the documents, affidavit, information etc.
as may be required by the University from time to time and any unsigned declaration(s) or affidavit(s) or
undertaking(s) or any other document(s), which otherwise is required to be signed and/or attested and/or
submitted by the candidate as prescribed by the University or otherwise, either intentionally or
unintentionally shall not relieve the candidate of the obedience and/or compliance and/or any disciplinary
jurisdiction of such declaration(s) or document(s). Such declaration(s) or affidavit(s) or undertaking(s) or any
other document(s), even if unsigned, will be binding on the candidate and all other concerned.

18. Every candidate shall disclose his permanent address correctly, wherever asked for. In case of any change in
contact details (permanent or temporary), he/she shall be liable to inform the details to the University
before shifting to the new location along with fee of Rs. 250/- in the form of demand draft in favor of “Lovely
School of Open & Distance Learning” payable at Jalandhar.

19. Any amendment in the Admission Guidelines and other information may be put on the notice board at the
University Campus or the web portal (www.lpuelearning.in) and no separate intimation will be made.

20. Any error(s) or omission (s) is/are to be exempted.

21. The terms “he”, “him” and “his” include the feminine gender also.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. For the eligibility criteria of all the Programmes, refer to the Programmes provided in the Prospectus and/or
the web portal (www.lpuelearning.in). Candidates must satisfy the respective eligibility criteria and
admission procedure, as prescribed by the University.

2. Unless otherwise provided, only such candidates shall be eligible for admission to a programme, who satisfy
the prescribed eligibility criteria, from a recognized University/Board/Council/Institute or its equivalent, as
decided by the University.

3. Candidates, who are due to appear or have appeared in the qualifying examination and therefore result of
the qualifying examination is not yet available, may also apply for admission to open and distance learning
programmes as per the prescribed schedule. Such candidates may be given ‘Provisional Admission’ by the
University, subject to fulfillment of other conditions as prescribed and their admission would be confirmed
on submission of proof of fulfillment of the eligibility criteria. The proof of fulfillment of the eligibility criteria
must be furnished by the candidates, one month before the scheduled date of start of the first semester
examination or the concerned semester in case of lateral entry.

4. In case a candidate fails to produce the proof of fulfillment of the prescribed eligibility criteria by the
stipulated date, as mentioned above, due to non-declaration of result or incomplete result or in case of
supplementary or due to any other reason, his admission will be cancelled and he will not be eligible for
refund of programme fee or any other fee/ payment(s) made to the University.

5. If on verification at any stage, it is found that a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria or any other
condition, his/her candidature will be cancelled and he/she will have no claim whatsoever against the
University. The candidate is, therefore, advised in his/her own interest to go through the eligibility criteria
and admission procedure carefully and make sure of its fulfillment before taking admission.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE

1. Filling of Application Form


A candidate may fill the Application Form in original as provided in the
Admission Prospectus or by downloading it from the web portal (www.lpuelearning.in).
2. Attachments with the Application Form
a) Photocopy of Matriculation or equivalent certificate bearing testimony to D.O.B attested by the competent
authority (i.e. a Gazetted Officer or any other appropriate authority as prescribed by the University) with
proper stamp and seal.

b) Photocopy of Detailed Marks Card of the qualifying exam & other exams as prescribed by the university,
attested by the competent authority (i.e. a Gazetted Officer or any other appropriate authority as prescribed
by the University) with proper stamp and seal.

c) One additional Passport size colored photograph (apart from the one pasted on the Application Form)

d) Proof of Residence (Passport/Voter Identity Card/Ration Card/Driving License/ Electricity Bill/Telephone


Bill/Bank Account Statement)

e) Proof of payment through DD/PO/Credit Card/Debit Card/Cash Receipt/Bank Deposit Receipt.

f) Prospectus fee receipt (in case of downloaded Application Form)

3. Submission of Complete Application Form

a) Only duly filled in and signed Application Form along with the attachments, as prescribed, would be
considered as complete

b) Application Form shall not be accepted if the certificates/documents are not attested by the competent
authority (i.e. a Gazetted Officer or any other appropriate authority as prescribed by the University) with
proper stamp and seal.

c) Complete Application Form is to be submitted before or by the last date of submission in person or through
registered post or speed post at the following address:

d) Application Form incomplete or without prescribed attachments as above received after the due date shall
not be entertained. Application, once rejected, will not be re-considered.

e) The University shall not take any responsibility for any postal delay or loss in transit.

f) A candidate shall be liable at his own for obtaining the receipt of documents submitted with the University.

4. Payment of Fee

a) Consolidated payment on account of Programme fee, examination fee or late fee, should be submitted by
the candidate.

b) Candidate must always write his/her Name, Address, Phone no., Name of the Programme, Programme code
and semester on the back-side of the Demand Draft or Pay Order.
c) Incomplete or wrong Demand Draft or Pay Order will not be accepted.

d) Cash will be accepted only at the University Campus. No cash payments will be accepted at any other place.

e) If the last date for payment of fee is a holiday, the fee shall be accepted on the first working day after the
holiday, without any late fee.

f) All type of fee and charges, as prescribed by the University and the various facilities provided by the
University are subject to revision/change from time to time.

g) Government taxes, levies and such other charges, if any, as and when applicable will be payable by the
student and will be added to the fee to be charged from the students.

(i) At the time of admission

a) For the fee details of all the programmes, refer to the Programme details.

b) At the time of admission, a candidate is required to pay the programme fee for first semester or for the
concerned semester in case of lateral entry.

c) Examination fee of Rs. 600/- as account of first semester exams, or for the concerned semester in case of
lateral entry, is to be paid at the time of admission along with the programme fee.

d) Candidate is required to pay the programme fee, examination fee and prospectus fee for first semester, or
for the concerned semester in case of lateral entry, in one installment at the time of admission.

e) The fee once deposited is non-refundable and shall not be adjusted in any case.

f) The candidate should retain the photocopy of the proof of payment and Application Form with him.

(ii) At the time of Re-registration

a) The student is required to register for each subsequent semester by paying the semester-wise programme
fee before the start of the examination of the previous semester as per schedule announced by the
University through the web portal(www.lpuelearning.in) or the notice board at the University Campus.

b) Examination fee of Rs. 600/- is to be paid at the time of re-registration along with the programme fee for
each semester.

c) Candidate is required to pay the programme fee and the examination fee for each semester in one
installment at the time of re-registration for each subsequent semester(s).
d) The fee once deposited is non-refundable and shall not be adjusted in any case.

e) It is the responsibility of the student to pay his fee by the deadline scheduled by the University. No seperate
correspondence will be made for fee submission.

f) If the student does not pay the fee by the deadline, late fee will be charged as prescribed.

g) The student should retain the photocopy of the demand draft and the Re-registration form with him.

6. Mode of Payment

A candidate is required to pay the prescribed fee (programme fee, examination fee, and late fee, if applicable)
for the programme enrolled in. The programme fee, examination fee and the late fee, if applicable, may be
paid in any of the following modes:
(i) Demand Draft or Pay Order drawn in favor of ‘Lovely School of Open and Distance Learning’ payable at
Jalandhar

(ii) Cash (at University Campus only)

(iii) Credit Card/ Debit Card(only for online submission of application)

(iv) Online Bank Transfer or Cash Deposit at Bank in the account of “Lovely School of Open and Distance
Learning” having account number 65046016345 with State Bank of Patiala (IFSC Code- STB0000838).

In case of downloaded Application Form, the prospectus fee shall also be paid in cash or in the form of a Demand
Draft/Pay order issued by any bank or through Indian Postal Order drawn in favor of ‘Lovely Professional University’,
payable at Jalandhar.
IDENTITY CARD

1. Every student shall be issued an Identity Card which shall be required to be worn around his neck while
being at the Campus or taking the semester examination and to be produced when asked for.

2. In case of loss of Identity Card, a duplicate card shall be issued on payment of Rs. 500/- in the form of
demand draft/pay order drawn in favor of ‘Lovely School of Open and Distance Learning’’, payable at
Jalandhar, subject to a written request from the student.

3. The Identity Card is valid only for the duration of the Programme in which the student has sought the
admission.

DISPATCH OF STUDY MATERIAL

1. Study Material shall be dispatched to the students on request, semester-wise and subject to programme fee
payment of the respective semester of the programme. Study Material for first semester or for the
concerned semester in case of Lateral Entry will be dispatched to the students on allotment of Registration
No. or before the commencement of session.

2. If the Study Material returns back to the University due to incomplete address, left, not claimed, house
locked or any other reason, that the University holds valid towards non dispatch of the returned self learning
material, in that case the University will not be responsible for re-dispatch of same. For re-dispatch of the
returned Study Material, the student will have to pay Rs.250/- in the form of Demand Draft, drawn in favor
of 'Lovely School of Open and Distance Learning’, payable at Jalandhar. Student must mention his/ her
Registration No.& semester on the back side of the Demand Draft.

3. The University shall not be responsible for the non receipt of Study Material by the student due to non
communication of change of address to the University or any other unavoidable circumstances.
EXAMINATION GUIDELINES

1. End-semester Examination

a. End-semester examination shall be conducted at the end of every semester.

b. There will be only one exam centre i.e University campus for End-semester examination

c. End-semester examination comprises of offline written subjective questions.

d. The examination schedule shall be communicated to the students through the web portal
(www.lpuelearning.in) and also through the notice board at the University Campus.

e. Students are required to carry the Identity Card and pay slip of the relevant semester while appearing for the
examination and produce it when asked for. Students not carrying the Identity Card or pay slip of the
relevant semester will not be allowed to appear for the examination.

f. If a student fails to clear any course, he shall be required to re-appear by paying Rs 200/- per course through
demand draft/pay order drawn in favor of ‘Lovely School of Open and Distance Learning’, payable at
Jalandhar, for each attempt whenever the examinations are held, within the prescribed maximum duration
of the programme.

g. Separate fee of Rs 200/- per course through demand draft/pay order drawn in favor of ‘Lovely School of
Open and Distance Learning’, payable at Jalandhar, need to be paid for each attempt in case the candidate
appear for practical re-appear.

h. The result of End-semester examination shall be binding on the students.

i. If the student is not satisfied with the marks awarded to him for a specific course, he can apply for re-
evaluation of that specific course by paying Rs. 1000/- per course through Demand Draft/Pay order in favor
of ‘Lovely School of Open and Distance Learning’, payable at Jalandhar within 15 days of declaration of
result.

j. Students are required to complete all the courses within the maximum duration specified for a programme.
The student can re-appear for any course as many times as the End-semester examinations are conducted
within the specified maximum duration for that programme.

k. Results of continuous assessment and End-semester examination shall be declared online through the e-
learning portal of the University. No separate intimation to individual student shall be made in this regard.

l. In case of reappear, if there is any change in the curriculum or in case of withdrawal of course or otherwise,
the candidate will be required to reappear for the exam according to the new curriculum or scheme.

2. Continuous Assessment

a. 20% weight-age is given to continuous assessment of the student during a semester.

b. Students are required to appear for assignment based Online tests for the purpose of continuous
assessment.

c. Online Test is generally scheduled on weekends at evening timing.

d. In case the student got registered after the specified deadline, as prescribed by university then no provision
would be made for extension of date of online test.
AWARD OF DEGREE OR DIPLOMA

1. The Degree/Diploma is awarded only to the students clearing all the courses of a Programme within
maximum duration specified for that Programme.

2. The Degree/Diploma is awarded after 6 months of successful completion of the Programme, but Provisional
Degree/Diploma can be obtained by depositing a Fee of Rs. 250/- through demand draft/Pay order in favor
of ‘Lovely School of Open and Distance Learning’, payable at Jalandhar, along with duly attested photo-
copies of all the DMCs.

3. If the student is unable to clear all the courses of a Programme within the specified maximum duration, he is
not awarded any Degree/ Diploma certificate and no fee will be refunded in that case.

DISCIPLINARY CONDUCT
The students will strictly observe the following and such other Rules as framed by the University and the Trust or any
other authority, as decided by the University, from time to time.

1. Students coming to the campus must attend their respective contact classes. Disciplinary action will be taken
against the students found roaming in the campus at the time of scheduled contact classes.

2. Students must enter and exit the class as per scheduled time. They are not allowed to enter the class late
and exit the class before the scheduled time.

3. Students must leave the campus after the scheduled time of contact classes.

4. No visitors are allowed to accompany any student in campus.

5. Students should spend free hours between the contact classes in library or canteen instead of roaming in
corridors or lawns.

6. Possession and use of mobile phone may be allowed for the students only at the discretion of the University
as and when permitted, subject to the conditions that:

a) Mobile phones may be allowed only having basic communication facility with no add on features
including but not limited to multimedia, camera, music, web services and other applications as
restricted by the University from time to time.

b) The University may restrict the mobile phone at any time.


c) Students must keep their mobile phones in silent / switch-off mode while attending the contact
classes. They are not allowed to attend any call while attending contact classes; and

d) Possessing and/or using the mobile, if restricted and mobile phone with restricted features/facilities
as above shall lead to disciplinary action(s) against the student including but not limited to his
expulsion/rustication.
7. Student is not allowed to indulge in any sort of illegal or other unwarranted inter alia including activities like
ragging, gambling, hooliganism, smoking, consumption or possession of any type of liquor/alcohol,
formation of associations or incite others to form in any manner. Being found guilty of any such act he shall
be liable to severe punishment and any further such cases will be reported to the police as decided by the
university.

8. Students are required to obey the orders and instructions of their Faculty members and other University
Staff. Severe action including but not limited to suspension/rustication/expulsion shall be taken against any
student found misbehaving with or disobeying the Faculty members/ Staff.
MISCELLANEOUS

1. Admissions will be made at University Campus only through the Counseling & Admission Department of the
University or Camp Office, Karwan Team or Online.

2. Age is no bar for admission under Open and Distance Learning to any programme unless otherwise specified.

3. Mode of instruction shall be English, unless otherwise specified in the remarks column of the programme
details as decided by the University.

4. Any programme, whether listed in the Admission Prospectus or not, may be introduced, modified or
discontinued, at the discretion of the University.

5. The University may upgrade admission of student(s) to any Programme at any time, as deemed appropriate,
provided it should not affect the student in adverse.

6. Programme details, as provided in the Admission Prospectus and otherwise including nomenclature,
eligibility criteria (that may also include cut off marks on either side), admission criteria, place of Programme
offering, scheme & curriculum, examination system, attendance and any other information, is subject to
change at the discretion of the University.

7. Disputes, if any, shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kapurthala district only.
