The success of any story teller, regardless of the type or genre of a story which is
told, relies on the preparedness and readiness of the story teller (Thomsen; 2000).
The storyteller must in principle forget themselves, by being the main instrument,
the story being the main focus.
The participants who act as recipients respond to the story by listening, watching,
commenting, asking questions, calling and producing emotional reactions. This will
all depend on the entire presentation of the story teller (McDonald; 1993). It may
happen that if the folklore told such as folktales nor legends, are familiar and or
known to by the audience a story teller may engage such participant in assisting to
tell certain aspects or part of the story. In that manner engagement with the
audience will be encouraged.

NB: Let us have a discussion, what do you think are the experiences and roles of
the listeners/audience in any story telling session?
