Network & System Engineer (BS-17)

Working as Network System Engineer (BS-17) in Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), Government
of the Punjab since March, 2017

 Design and Deploy complete network of PPSC new head office at LDA Plaza, Edgerton
road, Lahore.
 Managing and monitoring 400 + network users including 6 regional offices (DGK, BWP, MUL,
FSD, SGD, and RWP) connected with secure VPN.
 Managing PPSC IT Infrastructure and technical activities across 6 project sites in support of 24x7
network connectivity. Identify and resolve business needs to achieve organizational goals. Manage
strategic planning to optimize resources, improve throughputs, and enhance system performance
parameters.
 Successfully upgraded PPSC existing network via sub-netting which improved network
performance, speed and reduce network congestion.

 Successfully sifted PPSC Datacenter from old office to PPSC new office (LDA Plaza, Egerton Rd) with
zero-downtime.
 Successfully completed the procurement of IT Tender 2017-18 within deadline. Prepared the biding
documents, technical specification for IT Equipment, coordinated with PPSC CT wing, Accounts
Dept, vendors and PITB to complete the whole procurement within deadline.
 Technical Lead the PPSC Flagship Project “Interview over Video Link”. I able to successfully installed
the VC equipment on Turnkey basis which includes the feasibility of the Video Conferencing of PPSC
Head Office with Regional Offices, Procured, Installed the VC equipment.
 Lead high-performing technical team of Assistant Network Engineer, Technical Support Officers,
Hardware Technicians, PBX administrator and Data Entry Operators. Develop and implement
standard operating procedures. Establish key processes that ensure reliable and efficient technical
services organization-wide.
 Guide the design and implementation of antivirus solutions and system/network monitoring.
Establish disaster recovery plans (DRP) within building and remote site.
 Provide senior-level technical consultations and support to Assistant Network Engineer and
Technical Support Officers on all IT and networking issues. Review network layouts, resolve

 I was working in SPEC group from Sep, 2008 till Mar, 2017 in IT department on various posts. SPEC
is a multinational Oil and Gas company having head office in Houston, USA and branch offices in
Pakistan, Dubai, Sharjah, Yemen, Russia, China and Nigeria. All IT related activities are performed
and monitored from Pakistan, China and Dubai branch offices. All branches are connected with
corporate VPN. SPEC is also registered as a Call Center.

 Provide high-level technical support, including identifying and resolving problems on Microsoft,
Cisco and Avaya supported products for corporate infrastructure of more than 800 network nodes
operating in a mix environment in different regions / different time zone.
 Responsibilities include managing and monitoring corporate network having Secure VPN connected
with all branches and end user also over Gigabit speed.
Brief job duties were below.
 Installation, configuration and maintenance of Active Directory Domain Controllers (Windows server
2012 R2, 2008, 2003 R2) of eight remote sites connected through Implicit Trust, managing Security
Group Policies & centralized administration through WHS scripts.
 Installation, configuration & Administrating Microsoft SQL server 2016-2008 Enterprise Edition.
Designing and Implementing Databases with Microsoft SQL Server 2016-2008 Enterprise Edition.
 Installation, configuration & maintenance of GateProtectTM (A next generation hardware-based
firewall) to connect all branch offices with secure VPN.
 Installation, configuration & maintenance of Microsoft Forefront TMG / ISA Server integrated with
Super Scout for web sites restrictions & real time sites monitoring
 Track users and printers usage, printers and user’s printing history reports as well as cut wasted
budget dollars resulting from uncontrolled, irresponsible printing.
 Monitor the sites users, browsing and what files they are downloading--in real time as well as Internet
usage history and bandwidth report, block access to restricted sites as well as performing anti-virus
scanning on all downloads.
 Monitor and Control use of portable storage devices, such as USB drives, iPods and PDAs company
network, preventing users from taking confidential data or introducing malware to company network
and users.
 Configuration & Administration of File Server & IP based Print Servers.
 Configured & Managing WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) Server for latest Microsoft Security
Patches for 00+ clients.
 Manage VPN Connections of all the branch offices as well as in all remote locations.
 VLAN implementation & configuration on Cisco Catalyst Switches 4006, 2950 series & Cisco Catalyst
3550, Multilayer switch along with configuring Dot1q tagging & trunking on Gigabit Ethernet
between Cisco Catalyst switches.
 Installing and troubleshooting Quick Books, Microsoft Business Solution Navision (Accounting / ERP
