Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and
other text types serve as means of preserving unchanging values in a changing world;
also how to use the Features of a full-length play, tense consistency, modals, active and
passive constructions plus direct and indirect speech to enable him/her competently
performs in a full-length play.
Performance Standard:
The learner competently performs in a full-length play through applying effective
verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria: Focus,
Voice, Delivery and Dramatic Conventions.

II. Learning Goals


At the end of the lesson with 75% proficiency, students would be able to:
 Identify the uses of adjectives as descriptive and numerical in sentences;
and
 Use adjectives in expressing evaluation.

Task 1: “What’s Inside the Box Challenge”


Divide the class into 4 group. Let the students identify the item inside the
mystery box. Let them describe the item using their senses (except sense of sight).
Let them write their answer on the illustration board.

B. Analysis (Integration: AP&MAPEH)


 Pictures of President Rodrigo Duterte and volleyball player Alyssa Valdez will
be posted on the board.

 Ask the students to describe these notable people by writing it on the board.

2. Do they help in describing vividly a person, a place, an animal, and a thing?

Key Points:

Use of Adjectives
Adjectives modify (describe) nouns and pronouns. They tell about a person, a
place, an animal, and a thing.

Types of Adjectives
 Descriptive
 Numerical

Examples (descriptive)
1. This is a funny book.
2. Did you see the gray kitten?
3. The food is in a square bag.
4. This is a small bunny.

Examples (numerical)
1. President Rodrigo Duterte was the mayor of Davao for twenty-two years.
2. President Rodrigo Duterte is the sixteenth President of the Philippines.

D. Application ( Integration: AP )
Group Activity: Divide the class into four groups. Ask the groups to do the following
tasks:

Group 1 and Group 2 Musicians – Place (Manila Bay)


Compose and perform the song that describe the Manila Bay before and after
it was cleaned. Use adjectives to express your evaluation. Write all your words in a
manila paper.

Group 3 and Group 4 Poets – Current Events (2019 Election Campaign)


Compose and recite a two stanza poem that describes the picture about the
2019 election campaign. Use adjectives to express your evaluation. Write it in a
manila paper.

 Students used many adjectives in describing the picture.
 Complete sentences were written with correct spelling and no grammatical

 Students mostly used adjectives in the describing the picture.

Ask: Answer the quiz on the worksheet.

Direction. Identify the adjective and the noun it modifies in the given sentences by
underlining the adjective once and the noun twice.

4. April bought five tickets in the cinema.

5. It was a cold day when I went to the beach.

V. Assignment

Listen to the song “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. List down in your
lecture notebook all the adjectives that you will hear.
