Makassar Muhammadiyah University. Thesis The Factors Affecting Low Speaking
Ability of the Second Year Students of SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar ( Descriptive
Research). Guided by Sulfasyah, and Amiruddin.

The objective of the research was to find out the linguistic and non linguistic factors
affecting the low speaking ability of the second year students of SMA Muhammadiyah 6
Makassar.
The writer employed descriptive design, which aimed at describing the factors
affecting low speaking ability of the second year students of SMA Muhammadiyah 6
Makassar.
The data analysis showed that the mean score of the students’ ability in speaking test
that consists of three components: pronunciation, structure, and vocabulary was 4.06
therefore, it was classified as a bad score. The factors affecting was low speaking ability of
the second year students of SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar are Pronunciation, Structure,
and Vocabulary.
Based on the result analysis, the teacher conclude the second year of SMA
Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar have low achievement in speaking
