MANAGEMENT IN THE NEWS (MIN)

 September 16 and 18 will be MIN presentation days. Each Management Analysis Team (MAT)
will present a current “Management in the News” article(s) to the class. Can be from any media
source (i.e. newspaper, magazines, internet, etc.).

 Each MAT will give a 15-minute presentation on the article(s) selected from any media news
source. Do not go over or under the time limit by one (1) minute.

 The presentation will address:

 The “So What” Question, how does it relate to the course content? The presentation is
to reflect creative critical thinking, logical analysis, mature and thoughtful conclusions
concerning the MIN topic selected.

 Stauffacher’s and Fayol’s Principles...which management and leadership principles apply


or which one(s) were violated. No need to mention all of them...discuss the key ones,
but no more than 4 from each.

 The “good, the bad and the ugly” POLC aspects of the MAT preparation for the
presentation.

 Time permitting and as a part of the standard, the other MATs not presenting will ask the
presenting group a minimum of five (5) minutes of questions.

 MAT order of presentation will be announced each day of scheduled presentations.

 Timekeeping is a part of the standard and is a responsibility for all MATs, presenting or not.
Official timekeeping is kept by the instructor.

 This requirement is worth: 25 points.

 To get full credit, students must attend all sessions. Failure to attend all sessions will result in the
automatic loss of all twenty (25) points.

 The MIN presentation must meet the standards outlined herein, plus the following:

Organized: Presentation includes a clear introduction, is logically organized, easy to follow the flow of
the of the presenter’s ideas, and stays on topic
Content: Provides coherent explanations & examples, information is factually accurate, and
presentation content relates to assigned topic
Quality of conclusion: The conclusion is supported by the facts presented, clearly summarizes the
presentation topic, and there is a smooth transition to the conclusion
Presentation style: Professional quality, speaks clearly & is easy to understand, proper eye contact with
the audience, does not read off the screen/PC, style is engaging & interesting
Q & A: Presenter(s) clearly and accurately responds to questions from the audience, segue to the Q&A
segment
Use of media: Makes proper use of visual and audio media to support the material presented. No
spelling or grammar errors
