SOIL PROFILE

A survey by the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) showed that Quezon City has five
(5) soil types, namely; the Novaliches Loam Series, San Luis Clay, San Manuel Clay, Burgos Clay and
Escapment. The Novaliches Loam series is the predominant soil type commonly called “adobe” it is
mainly characterized as hard and compact. It covers an area of 13,100.86 hectares or 81.31%. The
site as shown in the figure was composed of the Novaliches loam series. The site was the previous
location of Manila seedling bank which was transferred to other location because of tax issues. The
topsoil of the location will be good for plants and vegetation therefore the designers come up with
the idea of a self-sustaining building with the help of innovations like vertical farming.
ZONING

The site is located in EDSA corner Quezon Avenue which is considered as minor commercial zone.
The proposed project provides an intelligent planning solutions so that the development will not
add into the traffic problems along EDSA instead it will serve as the “Oasis” of the stressful traffic
jam in EDSA.
