Mandaya Student Performers for Events in the Community

(Mandaya SPEC)

Culture and life inextricably exist. One is impossible to be disentangled

with the other, that is why Caraga National High School emboldens full
extension of learners’ potential towards cultural integrity, peace building and
quality education.

The Caraga National High School —Mandaya Student Performers for

Events in the Community (Mandaya SPEC) aims at promoting cultural identity
and enriching living heritage of Mandaya tribe.

The Division of Davao Oriental - Caraga National High School highlights

the role of indigenous youth in building sustainable peace and holistic
education through artistic solidarity in performing arts. Through the creation of
CNHS’ Mandaya SPEC, the gesture of IP youth participation in the
school-community activities has become magnified. Eventually, the increase of
participation serves as an exemplary platform of information for other students
and community members who are of less awareness to cultural knowledge and
practices.
 Even in the Department of Education’s gigantic events, the Mandaya
SPEC has always been in support to welcoming the delegates. During the
hosting of DAVRAA, it’s not only about setting a warm atmosphere, but
advocating a culture of camaraderie rooted from the love for peace, friendship
and unity.

These Mandaya Student Performers, consists of indigenous youth,

dreams of a progressive indigenous community on a foundation of cultural
integrity and educative undertakings. These purposive paths are intended to
hone young Mandaya dreamers who will be the future community leaders and
nation builders.
 PRIDE and HONOR. The Mandaya SPEC performs in the NCCA
arena after winning the national music competition.

Other activities regularly participated by this group include the promotion

of tourist destinations and other town’s iconic spots, national competition
involving the tribal representations, regional activities calling for indigenous
peoples’ performances, activities of the Province of Davao Oriental, Town Fiesta
and other municipal activities, school programs and other community
undertakings.
 Social involvement is the prime concern of the Mandaya Student
Performers for Events in the Community (SPEC). They lead in the promotion of
iconic spots in the locality such as Pusan Point, beaches and other historical
destinations for community development.

LEAD Project
(Creation of Leadership Team)

School Leadership Team is a strategic approach where CNHS’ School-

based Management is strengthened. It has made the school leadership a shared
responsibility where sense of ownership is greatly radiated with the internal and
external stakeholders massive participation and partnership. It strengthens
group spirit that inspires every teachers and staff do his share of task to move
up for excellence.
