EXPERIMENT NAME: - Decoders and encoders.
APPARATUS: -  NOT Gate: 7404
 AND Gate: 7408
 4 Input OR Gate 4072
 Resistors
 LEDs
 Power Supply
 Connecting Wires
Theories and Diagrams:
Decoders and encoders are used to convert binary numbers to decimal and decimal to
BCD. In this experiment, we examined two simple circuits, a decoder and a BCD encoder.

Decimal to BCD Encoder

Figure 2
Procedure:
o Polarities and the magnitude of the power supply voltage was checked before connecting
it to the circuit

o Figure 1 circuit was constructed on the breadboard.

o A0, A1 were changed to all possible logical stated and the outputs were observed.

o Figure 2 circuit was constructed.

o One of each input zero, through seven was given logical HIGH. Only one input was kept
at HIGH value at each time.

o Outputs were observed.
