1.The Daily Star- “Locally Assembled Electric Cars to Hit


Streets Soon”
Nitol Motors is set to come up with a electric vehicle by next year
for Bangladesh. The vehicle will be assembled at a plant spanning
10 acres in Pabna and the plant will cost tk 350 crores. A joint
venture of local Nitol Motors, two chinese amd one US companies
will run the plant.

2.The Daily Sun- “NBR Takes Initiative to Publicize Tax Related


Digital Services
The National Board of revenue has taken initiatives to publicize
different types digital services related to tax, VAT and customs so
that the people can be aware of the online services. Through the
introduction of various tax related innovation system and online
service, the taxpayers and tax officials of the country can complete
various emergency operations flawlessly and without any cost
.
3. The Financial Express- “BB to Unveil Monetary Policy”

Bangladesh Bank will announce its monetary policy for the second
half of the current 2018-19 year at the end of January. Through the
new policy the Bangladesh Bank would try to give a cautionary
view on the country’s inflation to keep it within a manageable level
while special attention will be given to relaxing the current
pressure in banking liquidity.
4.Bloomberg- “Australia Firms See Worst Slump in Condition
Since Financial Crisis”
Australian firms suffered the worst slump in conditions since the
2008 global financial crisis. The business condition index-
measuring hiring, sales and profit- dropped to 2 in December from
11 a month earlier. So the country undergoes weaker business
conditions dovetailed with lower economic growth.

5.The Wall Street Journal- “ PG&E Files for Bankruptcy


Following California Wildfires”
The biggest utility US power provider PG&E corp. filed for
voluntary chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Tuesday,
succumbing to liabilities stemming from wildfires in Northern
California in 2017 and 2018.

6.Reuters- “Amazon Spends Company Record on US Lobbing in


2018: Filling”
Amazon.com Inc. spent record $14.19 million on lobbing the US
government in 2018 as large US technology companies pushed
back on issues such as privacy, immigration and new tariffs. Issues
of interest to amazon also included health care plans, drug prices
and food safety.
