Good morning every body.

1) I am N.Lehar tej of kendriya vidyalaya venkatagiri, standing before you to

disagree with the topic “INDIA HAS POTENTIAL TO LEAD THE WORLD”.
Optimism is one thing and hypocrisy is altogether another thing. Let us have a
rational introspection to the topic in discussion.

2) Historically the Greeks, the Romans and the British have all in their time
has taken on the mantle of world leadership. Later Germans, Japan, America
and Russia and now even China have tried and trying to be the leaders. What
is that these leaders have in common? They all had a national agenda and
intense desire to lead and excel…. But, at this point of time, Indians seem to
have neither the willingness nor showing any intension to lead. Then, where is
the question of leadership?

3) Of course India is a self proclaimed leader in non-aligned movement. But

we could not even retaliate the intrusion of PAK army in to the Kashmir in
spite of having the lager army. With this safety first mentality and lame duck
attitude, India can never become the leader but only a moderator.

4) India holds some of the requisite characteristics of "superpower". It has 1/5

of the world's total population and is ranked 4th in terms of GDP. It is also an
elite nuclear country. In spite of having all these requisites, India is unlikely to
soon overtake the 100-year lead in industrialization of Western nations, due to
lack of proper infrastructure and expertise. Our per-capita GDP, life
expectancy and human development index rates are so low. Recently oxford
university press said that more than 42 crores of people in India live in
extreme poverty.

5) It is matter of utter shame that India still has 45% uneducated masses and
their herd mentality is exploited by the ruling politicians and we will continue to
be the west’s lapdog. All People need to be empowered, not simply the
luckiest 1% or so. Then and only then we stand a chance to talk about leading
the world.

6) An important prerequisite to lead is that, we must all think collectively as a

nation. As long as our so called leaders, keep their political interests over and
above the national interests we have no hope. Don’t you agree with me?

7) Another point the optimists want us to believe is we are on the verge of

rapid economic development. Is it true… but... do you believe that this
development is symmetrical. NO….

8) The worst obstacle for our wishful thinking of world leader ship is our
governance and political ideologies. As rightly said by MR.TN.Seshan “every
patch of Indian society has become corrupt”. The explicit, quantifiable price
we are paying for corruption in the name of democracy is staggering.
TRANSPERENCY International placed India as 84th corrupt country.
Shame………shame on us.
9) Is it not a fact that our farmers produce less food grain/acreage?
Our engineers are just programmers without creating any source code,..?
Our scientist are only improvising rather than inventing and innovating,.. ?
Our doctors are practicing patented western medical concepts without any
original contributions?
Our beurocrats are more of self centric than people centric.
Is it not the fact that Our military imports most of its defence hardware,..?
Our entrepreneurs beg for foreign direct investment,.. ?
Our best students from best institutions run to foreign destinations,.. ?
Our politicians have a single point agenda of powermonging &Nepotism?
And is it not the fact that, we the common men do not think like people of
India without our self imposed cast, regional and religious divides?
And do you all still want to believe we are on a path of leading the
world……….?

10) With our largest pool of skilled manpower, we could have been home for
at least 30 of the Fortune 100 companies of the world and we could have 100
Nobel Prize Winners, and 100 Olympic gold medals… But where do we stand
now? What do you think is going to change in the next 10-20 years to propel
us into leadership position? Possibly India may become the richest country
with poorest people and may be the skill capital for the world to tap on. But
certainly I do not foresee our country as the world leader with our current
approach. But I sincerely wish to see my beloved country as the world leader.
I only can wish & hope………………But do not see any light.
I know my patriotism will be questioned... please Make no mistake….I am a
patriot but, realist too….

MERA BHARAT MAHAN.………
