Revised Thesis: Even though drummers are important for keeping a rhythm for the band to

follow, drummers and their skill sets are often underappreciated in the music industry.

Drake, Michael. “Express Yourself by Drumming for Healing.” Thoughtco., Dotdash,

Drumming for Healing.” Thoughtco., Dotdash,

In Michael Drake’s article. The author discusses how drumming is beneficial and helps to

improve stress, anxiety, tension, and many more. The article discusses how drumming and

creating a beat helps to work all parts of the brain and can help improve Parkinson's, and

Alzheimer's disease. The article goes into depth about how each of the sections of the brain

respond to each other when a rhythm is created and is said to release high levels of serotonin to

create a feeling of euphoria. Drum therapy is known for being a place of healing and self

expression, a place where you can find who you are.

This site provides a lot of information about the science of drumming and is a great way

to talk about how drumming is more beneficial than people think. Drum therapy has been proven

to be a good way to relieve stress, even if it’s just making a rhythm on drums. This article was

created last year which is nice because it shows that drum therapy is still going on and hasn’t

died out. This site doesn’t appear to be biased as most of the information comes from research

that was gathered from drum therapy.

I think that this will be a very beneficial site for my research paper. This was a perfect

site because it discusses nearly everything about the neuroscience of drumming and will help to

back up my argument for my research paper.

Northrup, Christiane. “10 Health Reasons to Start Drumming.” Christiane Northrup, M.D.,

22 Mar. 2016, www.drnorthrup.com/health-benefits-drumming/.

In Christiane Northrup’s article, she discusses the benefits of drumming and how it can

help improve the entire brain through the connections that are made from each hemisphere. The

author also talks about what happens when you drum and how it creates a “natural high”, and can

help improve anxiety, depression, and help with recovery after a stroke.

This article is very beneficial with providing more information about how the brain

operates during and after playing drums. The info is also reliable source and not based upon bias

because all of the information was gathered from research about drum therapy and can be

backed up from other sources.

I think that this article will be very useful for my research paper because it discusses

more about what goes on mentally and how the brain responds to drumming. This site is very

useful and will help to back up my argument.

“What Can Drumming Do For Your Health?” Drumeo Beat, 17 Aug. 2018,

www.drumeo.com/beat/8-health-benefits/.

Drumeo is an educational site devoted to teaching people how to play drums by teaching

rudiments, fills, basic tips to help perform, and recommendations for equipment to use. In this

article, the author discusses the physical and mental effects of playing the drums and the benefits

it provides for you in the future. The site talks about how drumming affects the health of the

brain, and body. Some examples are that drumming help to reduce stress, lower blood pressure,

and improves cardio.

This is a very useful site for the research paper. This site discusses more about the

scientific effects of the brain rather than just basic information. This was released last year and

all of the information comes from research found from scientists rather than opinions.

I think this is avery good site. Drumeo is well known for teaching how to play drums to

people who may not have access to classes. I personally have used drumeo a lot because it has

taught me how to hold a drumstick, taught me some rudiments, and helped to give me

recommendations for songs to learn in the future. This will be a very useful site for my argument

and my research paper.

In Robert Muller’s article. He discusses his experience with drum therapy and

how it can help to improve the physical and mental well being of the public. Drumming

circles have been proven to help with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma.

Drumming circles have also been known to help people with autism, cancer patients,

people with anger management, and veterans with PTSD. The article talks about how

drumming with a team can help build confidence and helps to create a shared mindset

based on a beat that is intended.

This site provides information on the therapeutic benefits of drumming rather than

the physical effects. On other sources, they talk about how drumming is a very cardio

based exercise and that it can help with weight loss, and development of muscle. But this

site talks about how it has helped a lot of people who have been affected by traumatic

experiences. This article was written four years ago and the info is based upon research

not opinion.

I think this will be a useful site more for the fact that it will back up some

information that was gathered from other sources. But most of this information is just

repeated from other sites. But it does provide some new information that wasn’t on some

of the other sites.
