Project # 1

Thriftway - USA
ETL Developer

Sales Data Mart System

This project has involved building a data warehouse for Thriftway which sells fresh fruits, vegetables, detergents,
personal care products, ice creams and foods and Grocery items. For each profit center, it stores the data for the
entire sales at central Store, dispatch of goods to centers, inventory at centers, etc. Data from Operational Source
System is extracted, transformed and loaded into data warehouse. The reports are being generated using Business
Objects to study the Sales Analysis System.

Responsibilities:
 Created Mappings using Mapping Designer to load the data from various sources,
using different transformations like Unconnected and Connected lookups, Router,
Aggregator, Joiner, Stored Procedure, and Update Strategy for Daily Load.
 Preparing ETL mapping Documents for every mapping and Data Migration document
for smooth transfer of project from development to testing environment and then to
production environment.
 Created Logical Data Modeling (Star Schema and Snow flake Schema) and
Dimensional Modeling (Slowly Changing Dimensions).
 Worked on performance tuning of SQL Statements and on Database.
 Developed and implemented Error Handling Strategies.
 Involved in Unit testing, User Acceptance Testing to check whether the data is
loading into target, which was extracted from different source systems according to
the user requirements.
 Preparing and using test data/cases to verify accuracy and completeness of ETL
process.
 Maintaining issue log of the issues during the UAT phase for future reference.

Environment: Informatica Power Center 8.6, Oracle 9i, TOAD, Sybase, Teradata, Fast Load,
Microsoft Excel 2000, PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, TOAD, UNIX, Shell Scripting, and Windows XP
Professional.

management activities for multiple organizations.
 Designed and developed Informatica Mappings to load data from Source systems to
ODS and then to Data Mart.
 Standards around simplified design and use of shared components.
 Involved in data models and data maps (extract, transform and load analysis) of the
data marts.
 Preparing ETL mapping Documents for every mapping and Data Migration
document for smooth transfer of project from development to testing environment
and then to production environment.
 Performed unit testing of the application.
