5. INSTALLATION OF R10C00 PACKAGE

5.1 Procedure
Note1: Upgrade from R1x or R2x
Do not upgrade from Release1 or Release2 on a running system.
Upgrade from Release3 and later is OK.
The SW package prior to Release3 contained a different licensing scheme.
Upgrading from Release1 or Release2 package to any later release
versions will cause traffic down. New licenses have to be installed in order
for the system to come up and operate normally again. Installing the
licenses when traffic is down, must be done by local or external (not across
the link) management connection.

Note2: Traffic interruptions

Updating to R10C00 from other SW revisions cause traffic

interruption. The following functionality is affected: All Evolution
Systems.

Evolution Metro Release Notes Release R10C00

Download Procedure:

Use Web GUI or Netmaster to download the software package to the

element. You need Admin privileges to be able to download the new
package.

For Web GUI; Select Configuration  Software and the SW Download tab.
Select the “SW-EVOLUTION-RELEASE-APP-R10C00_1.tar” file and press
Download button. The package contains five .tar files and the GUI will
prompt for new files as needed.

Figure 1: Downloading tar file

Depending on what versions is on the active and inactive, the software
installer will minimize the need for transfer between web client and element.
If the software is not complete after first tar, you have to choose the second
tar file. If the package becomes complete on the element, you are allowed
to switch the software.

Use the SU SW Versions tab and click on Switch Software tab. The SU will
restart, so the connection to the WEB server is lost. You should be able to
log in again after a short while.

Evolution Metro Release Notes Release R10C00

Please note that with SW version R4Bxx or later information about the
current SU is stored in the IFU Basic Frame. As a result the SU has to be
activated after the first restart running R4Bxx or later. Press the Set Current
SU active button displayed in figure 2. Also, the cache must be cleared
after SW upgrade. If the cache is not cleared, the web pages may not show
correct information. Please refer to handbook for a description of how to
clear the cache in different browsers.

6. KNOWN PROBLEMS
6.1 OSPF Router
OSPF Routing may be inconsistent when CityLink, InterLink and
CompactLink equipment is used in the same OSPF system as Evolution
Series terminals.
Workaround:
Do not configure the InterLink or CityLink to be a designated router. Use
static routes between the Evolution Series terminal and InterLink or
CityLink terminals.

6.2 XPAND Upgrade from R4A00

Unused XPAND PDH channels in R4A (or earlier revisions) results in
enabling of unused ports and thus AIS and LOS alarms after SW upgrade.

6.3 Memory Limitations Supervisory Unit FKCN5551A-T and

FKCN5551B-T
In FKCN5551A-T and FKCN5551B-T there is a memory limitation so that
maximum system configuration is within 2 IFUs. In large configurations
within 2 IFUs using 2 FNZ5695A-T/ FNZ5695B-T, the user may experience
a problem when trying to configure several auxiliary boards.

Workaround:
Use Supervisory Unit FKCN5551C-T or FKCN5551D-T in systems with
large configurations.

6.4 Ethernet Configuration Mismatch Gigabit Interface Unit

FNZ5695A-T
This problem is related to the Gigabit Interface Unit FNZ5695A-T

Internal lock-up in the equipment may occur if equipment Ethernet Port with
Auto Speed is connected to an external Ethernet port with fixed
speed/duplex 100M Full or 10M Full.
Management and User Ethernet traffic will be lost.

Affected unit; Gigabit Interface Unit needs power up restart to recover.

Workaround:
Use the same setting both for the Evolution Series terminal and the
equipment connected to it. Use either Auto on both sides, or the same fixed
setting on both sides.

Evolution Metro Release Notes Release R10C00

6.5 Software downgrade to R6B02 or earlier revisions –

Gigabit Interface Unit
This problem is related to the Gigabit Interface Units FNZ5695A-T and
FNZ5695B-T.
Inconsistent behaviour can occur when downgrading to R6B02 or earlier
revisions with
two Gigabit LAN Ports (LAN Port 4 and LAN Port 5) enabled.

Workaround:
Disable one Gigabit LAN Port (LAN Port 4 or LAN Port 5) before
downgrading.

6.6 Software downgrade to revisions earlier than R7A00

Please note that if the system is configured with R7A00 or later revision,
and then an earlier SW revision is installed, the system configured with
R7A00 or later revision will be lost. This will happen even if the
configuration is supported in this earlier SW revision. When switching back
to R7A00 the configuration will be restored again.

6.7 Access rights on DXC unit and DXC Frame

Signal label information and SNCP status information is available for user
with access rights MASTER and ADMIN. Not presented to users with
PASSIVE or ACTIVE access rights.

6.8 Upgrading to N+1 systems from earlier releases than

R8A00
The RPS-ORDERWIRE alarm may appear after an upgrade to R8A or
later.

Workaround:
Run through the housekeeping wizard and the system will be reinitialised
so that this alarm disappears and the orderwire channel is operational.

6.9 Memory Limitations DXC Frame

Supervisory Units FKCN5551A-T and FKCN5551B-T do not support DXC
Frame due to a memory limitation on these units for SW version R8A or
later.

6.10 DXC Frame SETS status and alarm reporting.

Incorrect alarm reporting from the SETS function on the DXC Frame may
occur. The event log may contain an event sequence with
SETS_SYNCHRONISATION_PRIORITY1 cleared /raised, typically for one

Evolution Metro Release Notes Release R10C00

second. The SETS functionality itself is not affected, only the alarm status
reporting.

6.11 Upgrade of Supervisory Unit from FKCN5551A/B/C-T to

FKCN5551D-T.
After configuration download to FKCN5551D-T with configuration uploaded
from FKCN5551A/B/C-T, the user must reconfigure the Ethernet
functionality on the supervisory unit.

6.12 Housekeeping wizard – Indoor Radio Placement page

A minor fault on the indoor radio placement page has been detected.
Moving radios on the GUI should be avoided. A bugfix release is in
process.
