Biography

Presentations

Dear Third Grader,

It is time for your biography project! This month you will be required to
read a biography or an autobiography of a famous person. You will be giving an
oral presentation to your class on the famous person you choose in class. Your
talk should be between three to five minutes in length You must speak to us in
the first person. Some pronouns you will use are: I, me, my, our, we. For
example, you will say, “I am…” and not, “My famous person is…”. You should
dress some way like your character. Your outfit should be simple. For example, if
you are a sports figure, you may wear a jersey to go with “your” team. Please do
not purchase any new clothing or this oral presentation. An additional prop
besides dressing up is expected. Feel free to embellish your presentation with a
poster, props, a short video or pictures saved to a flash drive.

You will be giving your speech sometime during the week of MARCH 4th.
You will be able to choose an exact date during the last week in February. I have
attached a sheet with questions that will be helpful when preparing your talk.
You may gather other information from different sources (a second book,
internet, magazine article, etc.) Once you have all the required information
please transfer your notes to either note cards or to memory. Do not just read
from the attached paper.

I have also included the biography rubric with which I will be utilizing to
grade the presentation for an English grade.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Have fun learning about
someone famous. Perhaps someday we will be reading about you!

Happy Reading!
