AGENDA

The increasing tensions between DPRK and the United States Of America has
threatened to escalate into a nuclear conflict which jeopardizes the entire
international community. Delegates of this committee would have to facilitate
effective negotiations between these nations. This conflict is a direct threat to the
international security making it imperative for the Security Council to formulate an
effective response. Moreover, apart from a short term solutions delegates will have
to formulate a long-term solution to prevent a conflict of this nature and magnitude
from repeating itself. The intervention of the international community in the internal
affairs of a nation-state will set an important precedent and effectively challenge
the idea of state-sovereignty. Should America be allowed to pursue its
speculations and be backed by the international community in another intervention
given its history? Should the international community remain silent while DPRK
potentially develops nuclear technology that can endanger every country on this
planet? It is up to the delegates of this committee to determine the course of action
for the international community. This topic is extremely contemporary giving scope
for fast paced debate with frequent crisis breaks. Similar to most MUN's, this years
Security Council will also consist of a double delegation. There is limited
precedence that follows this crisis; therefore the delegates will have to come up
with solutions the international community has never witnessed before for an issue
that history has never witnessed before. This committee due to the nature of its
topic will rely more heavily on quick thinking than knowledge.
